Favorite movie of all time?
This is probably going to be somewhat unexpected, but it would have to be James Cameron's adaptation of the RMS Titanic tragedy of 1912. I'm a sucker for anything maritime. I love shipbuilding documentaries and an ideal day out for me would be at a shipyard or a drydock. RMS Titanic was such a beautiful ship.
What made you come back to FP?
I've been away from forums since my last project with
@Rick Ace ended in 2013. I just felt like five years was long enough of a break. When you're somewhat isolated from other communities, forums are a great way to make up for some of that isolation.
Did you sign up to be an mod?
As in, did I join Forum Promotion to become a moderator? Nope. I've been a member for the past seven years. This is my first staff position.
What made you get into websites/forums?
For as long as I can remember, I've had this urge to help other people. It could possibly come from my childhood as I was caring for my grandma when I had finished school. I'd cook, wash the dishes and such. When we were out at the weekends, I'd push the wheelchair. I've always had a deep, caring personality and I feel my childhood has allowed it to show through to my adulthood.
My very first website wasn't much to look at, really. It was a cheat code website for video games, hosted by FreeWebs (now just Webs). It was very basic as it was made around the same time that I started learning HTML and CSS. I was 12 years old at the time. My projects these days are much, much larger and in-depth, but the same urge to help others is present.
This same website also had a forum. It used FreeWebs's awful forum plugin. Quite frankly, I would have been better off coding my own from scratch, but I didn't know how. Creating a community in which we can all discuss similar interests, is something that a forum was designed for, and I don't think will ever be replaced.
After 'enjoying' FreeWebs for around six months, I made the switch to ProBoards. Now entirely focused on forums (while still coding simple websites offline), I maintained the concept of the website prior, but adapted it into a forum. Needless to say, it didn't get very far, but through joining ProBoards Support, I met several friends that I still talk to today (
@Rick Ace,
@Ajay,
@edenwax and
@Cameron are also on Forum Promotion). We then went on to work together on various technology- and web development-related forums.
🙂
How do you feel about Canadian bacon?
Canadian bacon? I've never tried it, but if it's like American bacon, then I'll pass thank you.
