Yes, but I'm looking at this at a different way. Here the iPhone 5S will be $1,100 NZD and the iPhone 5c will be around $1,000. If Apple got it right they would make it at least around the $600-700 mark, or even cheaper so they could make this a cheap phone, yes it is cheaper but it would be pointless to buy it here with the price. It could've been a great phone for kids, but would you want your kid rolling around with a $1,000 phone or a $500-600 phone?

And I'm not upset, I don't care if Tim Cook is driving the company into the ground. Steve Jobs was an amazing CEO and it's a shame he died because in my opinion Steve Jobs was a really good innovation and running the company, but since he died I haven't seen anything massive at Apple which is kinda a shame. Sometimes it feels as though most of Apple went to the grave with Steve. Just my opinion before iPhonefreak comes and calls me an idiot for saying this 😉
 
I don't like Tim very much. Sure, he's good for the back end stuff he did when he was COO, but he isn't very good in good in tech .

Steve did everything, from the products to the books . Tim is only the books guy like all other CEOs. Tim gives in easily to what people think.

And I could care less about the 5c. I think it's a fun and colorful. That's it .

Which colour do you like?

Personally, I like the Silver, the the Gold, and then the Grey.

It's still quite a bit expensive though for kids. Here there's not much difference in price. You could get a similar phone for half the price from a different manufacture!
 
To me it's definitely being marketed to kids. The 5C is probably in existence so that parents will buy their spoiled kids an iPhone. Apple's getting them while their young... and probably hoping to make rabid lifelong fanboy/fangirls out of them. Lol I'm exaggerating a little bit on purpose of course but who else would the colorful, slightly cheaper phones be marketed to?
 
I read the iPhone 4S is now Free when you sign a 2 year contract with select carriers like AT&T, and the 5C replaces the 5 for people who don't need a 5S.

A refurbished/used iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S maybe better for kids who don't want to buy the iPhone with a 2 year contract.

iPhone 5c has a bigger screen than the 4s and is on par/slightly faster than the iPhone 5, so you're better of getting the iPhone 5c if you're wanting something better.

Imagine if Microsoft didn't get Apple out of bankruptcy in 1997, we wouldn't be having this conversation!
 
The 5c beats the 4S hands down . The 5c comes in a varsity of colors, new iOS 7, longer battery life, an upgraded camera system, an A6 chip and the new 4Inch retina display.

The 4S is much heavier and has a smaller screen too.

With the 5 series out, I think someone should be really mad to go for an Apple 4 series phone.

If he/she does not have the money for an iPhone 5, then should go for another brand, and not for an iPhone 4 or 4S.

The iPhone 4S still seem like a pretty good phone.

Another brand of phone may not have Apps, Games, and iTunes media services which a user may need for work, school & entertainment. It can be more costly switching to another brand since they need to re-buy all their paid iOS apps on Android, Windows Phone, or Blackberry.

Their old accessories like Speaker dock from their old iPhone will not work on other brands.

I know, but the benchmarks (most of them) show the 5C isn't as good, such as the Passmark Mobile Benchmark.

EDIT: I know benchmarks usually don't matter very much, but when comparing phones as similar as these, it does, moreso than usual.
