I hated it and is one reason I never used phpBB3.I remember installing mods/plugins on phpbb. You had to go into each template and manually insert code. It was the worst.

I am possibly considering phpBB3 or SMF for my new forum idea/concept.I am using phpBB for a new forum I am getting ready to launch as well. I personally love phpBB but I also enjoy installing ext for it lol maybe one day I’ll buy another XenForo license and convert it. For now I’ll just run my XenForo forum and my other on phpBB. 😁
I say go with SMF, it's much easier to set up permissions and install plugins. phpBB can be a nightmare to work with at times IMO.I am possibly considering phpBB3 or SMF for my new forum idea/concept.

I tinkered with this now and then and find they are easy to install.phpBB now uses an 'extensions' system, similar to a plugin system like Xenforo
