Oh that's tough, some get really gory. I suppose I could make a case for Made in Abyss? But...that's violent but still sort of light? There are so, so many dark anime that go violent, too. Akira is very violent, old school, too. Berserk is pretty violent, Higarashi is pretty violent, Demon City Shinjuku get violent, too. Lots of others.
I thought the English dub on that was awful. I wish they had updated it. There were scenes that they didn't dub where it was silent and the characters were talking.
Did you like Tokyo Ghoul?
I tend to avoid the dubs because they're usually horrifically bad, lol.
I liked Tokyo Ghoul, the concept certainly was unique! The idea of being a half-ghoul and trying to maintain some semblance of your humanity while wrestling of the needs of what it means to be a ghoul were certainly unique!
