Have you heard of the news? Said it's going to be released on September 21-22. For me who lives in a country where almost everyone has at least one BlackBery (BB) phone so communication relies heavily on it, it sounds like a good news. For non-BB users like me we tend to be late on information. I still didn't buy a BB because I never heard a really positive review or very important feature other than the BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) itself. And if BBM really can be used at other platforms, all the more reason to forget BB and enjoy our lovely Android or iOS.

But I also heard that you need a code number/PIN from a real BB phone to be able to use BBM on Android and iOS.. which is rather useless, if you ask me. That's no different than before, someone still need to have BB to be able to use BBM.

Or maybe I don't need to worry too much anymore, since people are also using LINE or WhatsApp more lately. We'll see. 😛

What do you think?

Either way won't bother me, I hate Blackberry's too because I neither have heard a decent review about them and they are very well known to keep freezing. That and I don't have an Android or iOS phone, I have a Windows 8 Phone. Even if it did come to Windows and when it eventually get's to Android or iOS I think people use the other messaging systems such as Kik & WhatsApp and would prefer it rather than BBM.

Unfortunately, this does not bear much impact to myself either. I've never much been a mobile phone device person.

When I need to call someone, I tend to take out my laptop and call them through Google. XgQN3QL.webp

Regardless, it still sounds like reasonably good news, so huzzah indeed.

Correct, but not correct.

You need a PIN, yes. You'll be assigned one per-device as you are presently, but you'll be assigned one for your iOS/Android device.

I'll expect people to be adding me (the only one with a Blackberry that's active, no doubt) left right and center...

Fixed in BB10 🙂

Nice to hear that it's fixed, however BB's are still not my kind of phone. I much prefer a Windows Phone to be honest. 🙂

I do like BB's and I'm currently in the process of getting one. I do like the thought of BBM being available on Android/iOS.

What made you want to get a BB? What phone do you currently have?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 and a Song Xperia Z. I got the Samsung for the camera and the apps, I got the Sony because you can use it under water, so is extremely handy in the shower or bath. Now I am also getting a BB for the use of BBM. I like how quick you can talk with others through it, plus some apps for the BB are quite good.

I have a Z10 and an iPhone 4S. Z10 syncs to Exchange, for work (and AN); and my iPhone is for personal crap, like train tracking.

If it really is like that, which means we can use both device independently, right, then it would be perfect.

Wow, you're such a gadget person, haha. Not sure why you'll need your phone during shower or bath, after all you don't spend hours bathing... And unless you have large connection of people using BBM, getting one yourself is not too beneficial. At least here it costs a lot to activate the BBM package, and it only comes with e-mail or so. For calls and sms you still have to pay differently. It is indeed useful if people you have to contact a lot everyday are using BBM.

Max people spend around 30 minutes in the shower, can you not last 30 minutes without a phone? 😛

Yes, I love gadgets, you should see what else I have haha!

BBM is only £5 a month to activate and you can send as many messages as you want to however many people you want.

I enjoy using my phone in the shower as I do get and make a lot of phone calls. It's been annoying when I've left my phone and gone for a shower only to come back and I've missed an important message or phone call.

It's not that I can't last without it, it's the fact I can't miss any phone calls or messages.

You can do that with Kik for free. 🙂
Isn't it awkward them hearing you whilst you're showering? 😛

I haven't used a Blackberry since before I got my iPhone in 2010.. but this is great news for those like my husband, who use Blackberries as their work devices and want to communicate with those on other devices..

That's what the on/off button is for on the shower haha! No, but seriously. I have children so I always need my phone around in-case of an emergency. BBM going onto android devices is going to be a great move for them.

Love the fact that now this news has come out, all of the people that have been spreading rumors about BBM being shut down have shut up now. So funny how they suddenly stop "believing" these lies when this is announced.

Apps were pulled due to incompatibility with leaked BB10 OS builds.

Yeah, I saw the news today. Too bad, I hope we can see the official release soon.

Just read about this, a few of my friends are disappointed..

Would BBM also be coming to Windows Phone 8, Windows RT, and Windows 8 which are all mobile operating systems?

I think a large amount of users who use BlackBerry services also use Windows because of popular office software like MS Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, Excel, etc.
