IPB or vBulletin. It's a close match between the two.

I'm not a big fan of vB 4's WYSIWYG though... It's not even a forum now...

You have got to be kidding me... Zetaboards, a free host is better than MyBB, phpBB and SMF? Not to mention the fact that it isn't free, it's owned by Zathyrus Networks. They only allow you to use it for free if you let them put ads on your board. If you wanted to install it on your own server, they would probably charge you an arm and a leg for the software... If they would even let you near it (unlikely).

My opinion:

IPB > MyBB > phpBB > SMF

I'm not even putting VB on the list because I don't use it very much and am not the best authority on it, but I do say that IPB is pretty impressive. Then there's MyBB which, although having a smaller community than others, has an incredibly easy and foolproof plugin system as well as some fancy ajax and javascript. Then phpBB3, which has a large community but is lacking in many things MyBB has.

Only my opinion.

Lol.. You dont have to use that.. Edit your settings and you can use the old fashioned way if you want.

Free I'd say, PhpBB and SMF..Depends really on you..What you're most comfortable with.
Any forum can be great if you know how to use it and customize it to your preferences.
If you know how to use a forum to its fullest potential than that's the best one for you.
