I prefer a smaller sized tablet like the 7 inch Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, and iPad Mini instead of having a phone which is the size of a tablet like the Samsung Note 3 Phablet because I prefer holding a smaller phone when talking on the phone, or texting with one hand instead of two if my other hand is in use doing something else like holding a bag.

The Nexus 7, and Kindle Fire HDX is also more affordable, and don't require a contract like Smartphones where you need to get on contract or pay many hundreds of dollars more for a phone.

I don't know, nowadays I prefer phones with big screens to help me with my daily routines. I think even small tablets are too big to become a phone, while I can still browse and read with phone with big screens, so I prefer that one, haha. I am thinking to get a bigger screen if I can change my phone someday, lol.

I personally greatly enjoy my iPhone 5 because the phone is not too large that it takes up my whole pocket while the screen is not too small that I can not perform tasks comfortably (like browse FP 😛)

I'm honestly not sure which direction technology will start to take in the future in regards to sizes. I just hope I won't need a backpack to carry my phone. 😛

Me neither. I don't think it will be that far, though. Since "phone" here means "hand phone", no? So it should still be able to be hold by a hand. XD

I remember there was an older Motorola Smartphone which has a dock which had a bigger screen, keyboard, and touchpad which turned your phone into a netbook. I think it never caught on, but it could be good for casual users who don't want a netbook, but want a keyboard and bigger screen for quickly replying to text messages, and e-mail.

It never caught on, but I thought it was a good idea, and have a better chance of suceeding these days with phones with better performance. The problem back in 2011 was that most phones were a lot slower than Netbooks and laptops, but now cheaper smartphones are good enough for tasks like web browsing, video, music, casual 3D games like Shadow Gun, and Real Racing 3, and office/school work(with a keyboard dock).

I prefer a small size phone rather a large screen phone for communicating. Yes, if you like to play and watch movies or videos then we can always have a choice of a desired Tablet, maybe like Samsung Galaxy Tab.

I voted for the tablet. Phones are getting ridiculously big now. Originally, phones started out huge, then the aim was to make them smaller, and now they're getting huge again.

In terms of specification, tablets will usually exceed those of a smartphone but not everyone is after spec.

I have both and I couldn't be happier. My eyesight is not so great and so, I need a larger screen so that the fonts arent too fine and my key oard doesn't take up too much of the screen when I am texting or browsing..

I admit that I use my tablet when I am travelling, and for some home use, but since I have gotten my Note 2, I haven't used my tablet as much, except of course when I am travelling.

If I only used my phone for calls, texting and some games and my eyesight were better then I would be ok with a slightly smaller screen.

Even though the Note 2 is the best phone I've ever had, there is no way I would consider going larger than that..

I agree phones are getting too big again, but the disadvantage of big phones these days is that their more difficult to hold because they are a lot wider while old phones in the 80s-90s were easier to hold because they were the shape of a regular landline telephone or handle bar which are better designed to be held with one hand while a tablet size phone would require you to stretch, and grip the sides of the phone to use it which maybe uncomfortable vs holding a phone in the shape of a handle bar.

Also, needing a carrying bag to hold a phone because it does not fit in many pants like tight jeans, sweat pants, and tights is inconvenient for people who wear tight pants, or shirts without big pockets.

I also agree that Tablets have pretty good specs in many cases since there are smaller Windows 7-8 Pro 32-64bit tablets which let you run software like Firefox, MS Office, and even older games like Warcraft 3, Starcraft 2, Counter Strike, and Age of Empires 3.

In my situation, I like smaller tablet(phablet) because its portable. you can bring it anywhere. Most of all, I have Gameboy Advance emulator installed. its awkward to play GBA in bigger tablets. But bigger tablets suits very well in watching movies etc. 🙂

If you want a bigger size smartphone why don't you try Samsung S4. Its has big screen, android features as well.

I'd would much rather go with a smaller tablet. They're much better and more popular among people. Who wants an over-sized phone which may not fit in your pocket? xD

Bigger phone. Have a 5" Samsung galaxy and it's great.

Big phones drain out the battery faster? Or is that a myth?
I'd rather have a phone with a 4 inch screen that lasts all day (maybe a couple days) without needing a charge and have a large tablet for games and stuff.

Bigger phones usually have bigger and more powerful batteries. 😛

@Venom Yeah, in general, larger phones allow you to get away with having a larger battery, so larger phones have a longer battery life.

I don't like any phone with larger than a 5" screen (phablets). A big phone is nice to have, but it can get annoying when you're carrying it around everywhere and it can barely fit in your pocket.

7" is the perfect size for a tablet, since it's small enough to hold in one hand, but big enough to where you can still see what you want to see.

Not always. Sometimes a manufacturer will put the same exact battery in different versions of their phones. I went with the 4 inch version of my phone because the 4.5 and 5 inch models had shorter battery life because of the bigger screen running off the same battery.

Sometimes smaller phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini look like a small version of the bigger version which is the S4, but the regular S4 has a faster CPU, more RAM, more storage, HD resolution screen, and video chip which makes it faster, and use a little more power.
