Blood

I would love to, but I'm terrified of needles. One day, I plan to face this fear.. 😛

A little girl walked up to her mother and said "I'm going to die."
Her mother said, "Yes, but think positively honny!".
The little girl responded by "But..my doctor told me I was B negative!"

😛 On the serious side, I plan to give blood, but haven't yet for a few reasons.

To all those who are thinking about it........

I promise you that it's the easiest thing in the world to do, it is virtually pain free and the sense of pride and achievement you feel once you've done it is massive, just think your blood will be saving a life, that life could very easily be one of your own family members.

Donating bone marrow is also a very precious gift, while slightly uncomfortable for a while you just know that someone somewhere in the world will owe their lives to you, saving one child from childhood leukaemia is worth far more than winning the lottery.

For UK member you can contact the Anthony Nolan Trust to find out more http://www.anthonynolan.org/

Also while we are on the subject.....

Have any of you ever thought about organ donation? If you are willing to save a life in the unfortunate event of your own death then registering on the national organ donation database will save your family the stress of having to make that decision.....

Be sure that your family know of your wishes...... 😉

I tell all my family at least twice a year.........Use my organs, let me live too 😀
And for anyone needing a spare part I'm blood group A Rhesus + 😛

I did donate blood a year ago. Unfortunately later that day I got really sick... Next time there was a blood drive at school there was a tennis match so I couldn't really afford to not be able to play. I'm really not sure when I'll give blood again.

Funny thing, once it was done the guy was like, "do you want to see your blood?" And as I was saying "not really" he lifts up the bag and I was like, "THERE IT IS."

I haven't, I'd like to if I could get over my fear of needles, though.

I have only donated blood once. It was in high school and I passed out while going to my next class....That was a bad experience for me.

This is another fear of mine. I'm afraid if I gave blood that i would randomly pass out.

The trick is to wait a while and eat lots of food to rebuild strength. That is something I didn't do, Matthew. I think as long as your careful you'll be fine. 🙂

Well, at our school, that would be hard to do, because they don't give you a lot to eat.

That kind of sucks...Maybe you can bring your own food with you then. That might work.

Yea, I'll probably do that. Plus, I think the Red Cross teams give out snacks.

The blood drive I attended had lots of food. Bread, fruit, pizza, chips, juice, etc. It was loaded there, but people where getting greedy....I only had a bag of chips and juice. I didn't get pizza. :\

Immediately after the giving blood part, I had a great time. There were all these different drinks: water, orange juice, other juices, and I think iced tea? There were also a bunch of cookies and crackers. And I could basically stay there until I felt good. Some people abused that and were there for two hours...I think I was there for about 45 minutes? But I'm sure they'll bring something for sure.

Too bad you didn't get some pizza! That would have been so awesome... Considering I love pizza to death, I would be so disappointed if I didn't get any 🙁

Sounds like you lot are lucky, at our blood days we get a cup of tea and a biscuit 🙁
