Yup, how it used to be on forums in the old days. If you asked to become a moderator, you'd not become one. You'd also be blacklisted as you said. But yeah, I've asked before on a forum to become a mod and they let me. I also was active on the board every day too which prolly helped.At least in the old days of forums, asking to be a mod was pretty much an instant way to blacklist yourself from being a mod. Nowadays it feels like you only need to ask in the right way and you'll probably get mod status somewhere.
Yep, that is how some forums were like back then! If you were active, passionate about the site, longstanding, and active you'd be noticed.What I mean by that is you get members who are obviously passionate about the forum, longstanding, active and articulate plus they will always attempt to defuse rather than escalate a difficult situation.
