Can vBulletin ever recover from it's negative reputation?

Since when was vBulletin considered the best? That's an opinion, you can't state an opinion in the form of a fact. vBulletin has always been terrible in my opinion, it's bloated and like walking in a kitchen with 15 different coloured cooking spatulas when you really only need one or two.
I never said it was a fact, and vBulletin has been around since 2000, it was a game changer, and its had the most popularity among forum software until it was acquired by Internet Brands when its had a major drop in popularity, and people started moving on to other forum software specially after 4.0. Hey I dont like vBulletin, I dont have a reason to give it a compliment unless I have a reason.

It wasn't stated as a fact, Kaiser said "its reputation has gone from being the best". This is actually true, it did have a reputation of being the best amongst many forum users. Obviously there were others who believed that IPB and others were the best.
+2 Rep

In my opinion what VB need to do is to apologise to their customers, admit that they have made mistakes

So what exactly have i missed in the forum world? What has actually happened that is so bad? I wouldn't know, i don't pay attention to vB I've just never liked it.

A misinterpretation then. vBulletin is terrible, I've been given two licenses for free and haven't used them for longer than 2 hours, that's how much I hated it.

....vBulletin offer awesome support......
As a long time user of VB I wouldn't necessarily agree with that. My personal opinion is that this is something else they need to improve. They do have some great staff who offer good support, but IMO the support they offer on their public forums is not as fast or as helpful as it should be.

karoshio, I'm not sure I know where to even begin 🙂 Lets just say VB botched up the release of VB4 and managed to alienate lots of their customers and key staff in the process.

Re: Can vBulletin ever recover from it's negative reputation

They will, if they release a new awesome and bug-free version many would not care/know about what happened and continue/start using them.

Very interesting, can you tell me more or somewhere I can read about this?

But why? People already know that the VB of today isn't what it used to be. Internet Brands is grasping at straws with its lawsuit against xenforo, if they didnt jack up the price and change the script's direction everything would be fine. Some big sites like BHW still use 3.8.x

Re: Can vBulletin ever recover from it's negative reputation

Internet Brands who own vB also own lots of very large forums, many of which run on VB3, they didn't even upgrade their own sites. Have a look at some of their automotive forums and you will see what I mean.

karoshio if you have a VB licence the best place to read about it would be in VB's licenses customer feedback section.

Re: Can vBulletin ever recover from it's negative reputation

Anything is possible, although they would need to add a lot more time and money into the project to bring it back up to par.
