[CLOSED] a new web host. fast & reliable servers.

Sorry mate. I had a bad day yesterday.

I think it's coz I travelled like 500 miles on the train to gatwick airport. 😛

I was tired and not thinking straight. Sorry.

Mind you I am totally useless with photoshop. Graphics are not my strong point. That is one of my negatives I'm afraid. I just can't design decent graphics so all my styles are either someone else's (with their permission) or some messed up free template I "tried" to modify. LOL.

You might as well give up to be honest.

Firstly, you're 10 years too late to start a web hosting business. £3/month for 5GB of diskspace? I pay £5/month for TBs of diskspace and bandwidth, a free domain, unlimited domains, subdomains, databases, etc. You're never going to be able to compete with those prices.

Second, your prices dont even work out that well. You have 50GB of storage and are selling 5GB for £3. That means you can host AT MOST just 10 customers! Bringing in a total of... £30 in revenue. £30 = just $46 dollars. Take away your reseller cost, that leaves you with $21 of profit a month - not including things like staff costs, billing software, advertising costs, etc. You'd make more money posting on forums or something.

Ultimately, resellers are *NOT* generally designed to start up a hosting business. Resellers are designed to resell web hosting space directly to people. For example, a web design company may own a reseller and sell webspace to their clients; but they won't let alone sign up because all of there space would go very quickly.

The other problem is the further down the chain you are the more it costs you, the higher the prices you have to charge and the less customers you get.

If you own your own datacenter, you can charge pretty cheap prices, so people like Dreamhost and Bluehost offer a lot for very little money. Let's say they charge £5 a month for 100GB diskspace. Now if you want to resell that, you are already at a disadvantage as to make any profit at all you have to charge more than £5 a month for exactly the same stuff. And this obviously increases the more people resell something.

So, to conclude, making a profitable hosting business using a reseller account is never going to happen. You're best bet is it either buy your own servers and sell it directly.
