Coding a social network

Anyone tried this? I'm actually creating one which is close to being near done, well the core features anyway. At the momento you can friend people, add images, avatar, change your profile design (half wy) and many other things to make it stand out and great. I'm going to look for more team members one day too. I could actually turn it into a profitable business!

So, anyone else taking a shot at it right not or thinking about it / made one?

Havent coded a social network yet but i have coded a few products and my first mobile site going to code some mybb mods soon when i have time.

I made a small social networking script a year or two ago. Just for learning purposes. Had just the basic features, basically what you said but with a full profile.

Pretty harsh but also someone thing I would say. It's definitely something to think on.

The only real new social network that get even half popular these days are ones for a specific niche and even then its a tough battle.

Then only reason I see to code a social network per day is to box up as a software and sell it.

Why not? No offense, but you are working on a Forum script where there are much more advanced ones like MyBB, Xenforo, etc; So why would a social network will be a bad idea?

And i believe OP is not trying to compete with Facebook. So i don't think running a small social network (and especially if it is a niche specific) would be a bad idea.

And may i know why you feel majority of his code will be from tutorials?

Unfortuatly for you, 100% orginal code :great: And you don't have to make things to compete with others, there's something called learning too.

So before you go around claiming people are using tutorials, check the facts dude, some people here can actually code and don't need to use tutorials, there's many good coders here.

And unique features, the design is massively unique, but of course I'm not going to go around blabbering my unique ideas, suddenly they won't be unique.

Both as basic as basic can be(that way I can't get in trouble with host with image uploads, videos, and ect)

Zuckerberg is a joke, he's rich because he was one of the first, not because he was any good as a programmer. Have you seen the original facebook? If he hadn't gotten any media attention and gained hundreds of staff members, Facebook would be complete and utter shit. I'd say about 10% of the current Facebook code is probably his own work, the rest are his staff members, so props to them for being good programmers 😉

I've been paid to code too "buddy". There's a problem with your type, you don't believe in others and as you've shown, are only in it for the money whew I don't care if there's competitors, no money coming out of it. Some people are actually willing to learn and try new experiences without money in your sight 😉

The original facebook was with minimum design and features, yes; but you should also see when its coded. At that time, its a great piece of code. And no, i highly doubt 10% of code will by by him (He would have coded much less than 10%). Then again, its his company and he is the boss. So it doesn't matter whose code it is.
If you are ever going to create a site as much big as Facebook, i'm 100% sure you are not going to code most part of it.

As for me im not in it for the money im into foruming, css and coding because i enjoy building create websites and forums but that just me.

Zinc could have a chance of topping atleast twitter if you have features that are great and will get loads of people interesting in your ideas and project, Money for advertisments will need to be spent out aswill but thats the only thing that mayb include money at the start.

I don't know how we could code a minus percentage, that doesn't even make sense and if you are meaning 6% I don't know where that figure is from.

Nothing against ZINC but Twitter? Really? Think about what you just said. Twitter isn't even an actual social network so I don't even know why you're comparing them when the basic features he has already listed is completely different concept to Twitter.

Haha, I take no offence. My aim is to connect people will people they know, new people around the world and businesses which I think is a big thing and will get big names on there if its easy to talk to them and even buy their products off that site.

This idea will self destruct in.... XD
