Coming back to Forums

Well, I'm only interested in a cloud-based solution. I really don't want to get into managing servers or databases or dealing with Linux commands. I just want an off-the-shelf option. XenForo, vBulletin and the others do a cloud managed option. I'm not an IT professional and I'm looking for something where I can just configure it and get it going.
In fairness you don't need to be much of an expert to self-host XF of vBulletin, but I understand precisely what you mean. Just pay for the service and it does what it's meant to do. Nice and simple.

Hi David, welcome to Forum Promotion! 🙂

You're definitely in the right place to chat with, learn from and grow alongside some incredible community owners! You're right, these days a forum has to be done in the right way or it won't take off. It's a struggle, but perseverance is a bit part of the game, as well. There a lot of car communities out there, so don't plan on jumping right in and being super successful, it will take time, but you can do it!

All the best!
Thank you so much for your encouraging remarks. I do know of a car club forum in Scotland that is quite active and there is a real community living on there. I love forums, because they create an intimate atmosphere where people get to know one another, meet up, and forge firm friendships that last a lifetime. I am beginning to actually have doubts about the future of FB - honestly it's getting terrible, and getting worse by the month. At some point our groups there will have a decision to make.
