Control Panel Software

Whether you host on a shared account or a dedicated server, chances are you're running some type of Control Panel to help manage things. The bigger names out there are cPanel/WHM, DirectAdmin, and Kloxo.

I've used cPanel for awhile, and found it extremely easy to use, however for a VPS / Dedi it eats at resources. I'm getting my chance to use DirectAdmin full time, so i'll comment on how much I like it later. So far it seems to have most of the same features, and just as easy, but far cheaper. Kloxo is something I don't love. I ran it for awhile on a VPS with Santrex and had constant issues. Things would get changed without me touching them and such.

My question is simple, how many of them have you used and what are your thoughts on each?

I thought you can only get cpanel.. That's something new I have learnt. o.o I use the basic cpanel.

I used directadmin on a trial thing. It was ok. Plesk is ok too I guess.

cPanel is my fav though.

The only one I've ever used is Cpanel. I knew there were others, but I've never tried them though.

It depends on your host. If you use shared hosting, it's whatever the host provides. If you have a VPS or Dedi, it's usually up to you.

I've never had a chance to use Plesk, hopefully I will in the future.

I've heard people scream about Vista Panel until blue in the face. The one time I tried to use it I hated it as well 😛

I'm glad you understood my sarcasm. I couldn't even get the file manager to extract a ZIP file, and even with that it took me 10 minutes to upload it :rofl:

I've only really used cPanel so my favourite software is cPanel. I've used Vistapanel once I think though, I think it was ok.

I think cPanel and WHM panel is the best, gives you full control.

I find the problem with Vistapanel is usually down to the host and all their overloaded servers and many restrictions. It is simple but it gets the job done.

I mainly use cPanel and i have grown to get used to it. I have tried Plesk and it was quite confusing but i am sure i would get used to it if i used it for a few weeks.
