Because we got off topic in the capital punishment thread, I guess I'll make this one.

I disagree with corporal punishment for the most part. Parents shouldn't hit their children.

What i said in the capitol punishment thread. And i keep the same statement here.

I agree with both capitol and corporal.

Corporal:
You need to get people in line, like children, they need to know what's right and wrong and the consequences when they do wrong things.

But i agree with what yamiyo said, as long as it is not taken too far. Then it is fine.

A good parent should be able to rear their children properly without resorting to actually hitting them. That being said, I know plenty of kids who deserve a good crack on their ass.

Speaking as the older generation on here, I was raised with both, it never did me any harm and I have full and total respect for my elders and my peers, I will state the usual stuff, kids today for the most part are far more brash and brazen, they cry abuse if they have their PS3 taken away as punishment. I'm not saying ALL kids do, just as a whole.

Rudeness and lack of manners for me are the one thing that get my goat and don't cost anything, kids today know that they can get away with bad behaviour or just don't fear the punishment or consequences of it. If I got into trouble at school I was worried what my mother would say and knew there would be trouble. I was too afraid to be so naughty as to need the cane or the plimsoll at school.

I don't advocate extreme punishment of course, but a slap on the backside never did me any harm. I'm not mentally scarred, I am grateful to my mother for that type of upbringing, I'm respectful and hopefully a decent human being and I have her to thank for that.

My favorite post of this thread. <33

Hmm, as everyone on this forum is practically a teenager, I wonder what people will post here :sarcasm:

I think that corporal punishment is fine, with moderation. If it gets too intense it is child abuse, but if a child is out of line a smack or two may be required to "teach them a lesson".

You learn not to touch fire because it hurts, you learn what not to do by receiving some sort of pain. That is how I look at it, and nor will anyone's opinions here persuade me. Good day 🙂

Acceptable corporal punishment is fine, notthing too outragous.
Acceptable: Spanking
Unacceptable: Waterboarding

@Kirisute Gomen: Waterboarding is acceptable under some circumstances, but in the context of a child being taught what's wrong, it is not acceptable.

@_20_: You can delete it yourself when it's the most recent post...

Or you report it and staff will take care of it.

You guys are going to have to clarify on what you mean by 'Waterboarding'.
