Hey,

I have some great news.

I am getting paid $1000 Australian Dollars as a back payment from me waiting wont go in detail with my personal life and payments but that's the amount.

Now what would be better?

Desktop or Laptop?

Hope yous can vote and goes to these to sites to help me choose the right system.

Note: I am also fixing my tablet which at the mot will take $200 away from $1000 so I will have $800 left to send so anything under of is at $800.

I ALSO NEED VOTES IN BEFORE TUESDAY AS THAT'S WHEN I GET PAID.

I use a desktop, I get so much more power and reliability. It's like owning a truck vs a smart car 😛

A tablet would be pretty duplicative of a laptop, imo. You'll already have a tablet for portable computer desires.

Build a desktop, imo

Desktop. More ppwerful. Plus You can repair/upgrade It.

Desktop since you can upgrade when you need a faster video card, more RAM, and add a bigger hard drive.

Desktop computers also last longer in my experience, and are easier to fix.

I don't know if I can get A decent system with $1000.

Plus the monitor etc

Granted I don't know how pricing for computer components is in Australia, but in the U.S. you can build a very capable system for $500-600 (w/ monitor).

Still thinking But A Laptop capacity allows you todo alot more where A Android Tablet allows you todo it on the go much easier without damaging the HDD but dropping it etc..

You can usually use a old monitor if you already own one, or get a cheap used/refurbished monitor on Craigslist or eBay. You can sometimes get a monitor for free if you know a friend or family member who has a monitor they no longer use because they switch to a laptop or tablet.

Sometimes schools, workplaces, and non-profit companies may give away old monitors which they no longer use if you agree to take it home yourself.

I read some people use their LCD or Plasma TV as a monitor by using a HDMI, VGA, or DVI video cable.

I have looked on Acer's site it is worth around $1200. So I did get $800 off.Being A ultra book it has more Processing power then A desktop.

Only issue is I need to get use to windows 8 that should only take A few weeks.

its sort of true.

My brothers dell desktop is 1.5GHz while my laptop is 1.9GHz almost 2.

And i can overclock my quad core desktop to 4Ghz before it becomes unstable. Normally run it at 3.68Ghz for everyday use, anymore and the water cooler has a hard time keeping the processor temp down. Built it 3 years ago, almost ready to upgrade. Looking at an 8 core amd, 4.0 out of the box. wonder what it can be overclocked to.

A desktop is better for performance, but a laptop is portable.

i3 is still Ok.
The system will still get the job done.

and whats an i5?

The love the screen and keyboard myself, The screen is also touch and the keyboard lights up when you go and type.

fells so much more better writting code on A PC then what I was doing on my tablet.

I am using a desktop PC right now, but I also have a tablet for when it's bed time 😀

The Intel i3 CPU is fine for Windows 8, and for writing PHP, and other types of code used on forums and websites.

I think the Intel i5 is a Quad Core CPU instead of a Dual Core CPU.

I read Windows 8 works fine on older Netbooks with 1-2GB of RAM because MS designed Windows 8 for tablets, older computers, and PC with slower performance.

I'm using Windows 8 on an older Intel Core2Dou 1.86 GHz Dual core CPU, and Windows 8 works pretty well, and feels faster than Windows 7 and Vista which I prevously used on my PC before Windows 8.
