A laptop is A computer and I agree they can be more powerful.
 
To be honest I carnt see the diffrence some users might. I would like the idea in sitting in one room use to use Windows.
 
I think higherend laptops now have a SSD/Flash memory, as much RAM as a desktop, and a multicore CPU and faster video card now there is less of a speed difference for daily tasks like web browsing, office work, and watching videos.

But, for Gaming, and intense tasks like editing video and audio, a desktop would be better since you usually have a faster video card and CPU.

How much space is there -> 320+ is invariably a HDD. SSDs cost about $1/GB so they aren't really viable.
 
Just thinking when I bought it the retailer said it has A 500GB HDD, So I think the operating system is loading via A Hard Drive.
 
is there a tutorial on how to install A SDD? Ive only mainly used HDD with laptops.

/sigh.

Put the SSD into the HDD slot, boot PC, install OS and DO NOT defrag it.
 
A Hybrid SSD is cheaper than a SSD, but almost as fast because it has a SSD for your most used files, and programs, and store your rarely used files and program to a hard drive on the SSD.

I read that some SSD's these days use the PCI-Express/PCI-X slot on your motherboard for even faster read and write speeds than SATA ports.

I'm fairly sure that Spudster has a laptop, so this is irrelavent.
 
Indeed, it is most likely irrelevant for most cheaper to medium price Windows based laptops.

The recent Macbook Air uses a SSD for PCI-Express slot for Laptops according to http://www.pcper.com/news/General-Tech/ ... acBook-Air

Maybe some more recent, or expensive Windows laptops these days come with PCI-X expansion slots for newer SSDs which uses the PCI-X connection instead of Sata.
 
Only problem is I have opened the back and all that is in the machine is RAM No hard drive slot. So i'm assuming the hard drive slot is in the machine at the back.

I try to watch A you tube video on where the HDD is located soon.

I wouldn't mind taking the hard drive out and transferring an image of the operating system/Computer to A SSD but wouldn't removing the keyboard where I think the keyboard is located void the warranty.
 
I actually though I preferred a desktop. But since I got my desktop I prefer a laptop now. 🙁
