Do you think we need more promotion forums? Why or why not?

I honestly think if we had more proper advertising in one place, it wouldn't be a big issue. Because then it'd be like a "community hub". But since this isn't the case however, I find that more promotion forums will likely have different users from different forums on it. Which means more probability of different users to join your own forum. Now while I'm saying I don't think we need like 100 promotion forums, like 3 that'd compete with eachother would honestly help their own community, as well as liven up forum communities as well.

It boils down to natural selection like with everything else. You take any niche with an owner who is aggressive enough and they will dominate the niche. In the end, it's not about whose better necessarily but which decent (at the least) site reaches the most people.

It's not a matter of what we need, but whatever is forced on people. Anyway, it doesn't seem forced, it simply the decent (or greater) site with the most advertising.

Yes, Yet again no. Bigger forums like FP will always be on going with active member-base. Regards forums that are starting out are going to have an hard time growing.

There are so many out there already I think it's not an good idea to start your own unless you offer something that no other promotion sites offer

Yes, but with the added caveat that we need more promotion forums with different userbases. But at the same time, maybe those exist and we just don't all know it.

What we don't need is Average FP Member to see this thread, see a few 'yes' answers, and go create a FP-Copy forum and say "problem solved join my promotion forum" and only have other FP members join. That just wastes everyone's time.

I think a good idea is daily posting, though, it's probably not practical. You see, posters that come and go every few weeks seem fake.

There are multiple *admin forums*, quite a few at FP's scale in-fact, but there aren't that many *promotion* forums.
Admin forums tend to be a little fussy about people advertising their sites, siloing it off, restricting it to really active regulars or banning it outright.

That's not saying I don't appreciate the posters on FP, though. Don't take me wrong - and also I am a packager. Nonetheless, a better way of doing it would be more posts and more spaced out - maybe over a month.

That's slightly more complicated, as they have to maintain a schedule of which sites to visit and when rather than getting it over with straight away.

Well, quality costs more money, but I guess the admins have to make the sacrifice to be competitive.

Getting that active members going of the ground is hard for any forums.

*admin forums*
Agree to you on that point. They are little more strict and aren't many options regards promotion. The site is more for admins who are stating out and forums about forums/website admins over the world to come together and just talk

We can always use more of something good, but it has to be good.

I may have already said this, but I think a promotion forum that expands to blog commenting might have a goldmine - even in this age of dying forums. Note, blog commenting is good for SEO - something bloggers want.

Quantity of forum promotion doesn't matter as compare to quality of forum. Forum that have more daily postings and more interaction are very useful for promotional purpose.

More such forums the better. Lack of promotion forums means that niche is dying which is not good.

Even if FP is the only forum, It's hard to pick up the times to get bigger and grow...

It's never a matter of too much - only on who's on top! It sounds arrogant - but honestly, whoever has the most ad money - assuming the site is decent or great will come on top.

This ^
It all depends on who spends the most on advertisement and stays on top with aggressive promoting.
There can be millions of forum promotion websites, but only the ones who have active members who read it count. Ones that have no traffic are completely pointless for anyone to spend their valuable time attempting to promote theirs.

Those that spend the most on advertisement got to be lucky to able to have the funds behind them. Not many that do. but other options are doing the free and way harder and longer way LOL Simple tweet feed everyday
