Do you have to have the latest tech?

It's easy to get caught up in the hype of new releases, but sometimes it's better to wait and see how the new tech performs before buying.

I love to have the latest tech but the question of me getting them depends on my budget. Who doesn't want to have access to the lowest feature?

When I was younger, sure.

But now, I don’t need the latest technology. I’m perfectly fine with keeping the same phone or laptop for a few years. If it’s not broken and runs perfectly fine, then I don’t see why I need to buy something new.

I used to be like this when I was younger with my desktop, but I've had this one since 2019 and I'll probably just upgrade the ram and gpu in the next year or two instead of doing a full rebuild.

I never really minded using outdated phones.

With the release of the iPhone 16 recently it got me thinking, do you find yourself always wanting the latest tech or rushing out to buy it as soon as it goes on sale?

When I was younger I used to but as I get older I don’t have that same desire to always have the newest and latest tech in my hands or on my desk.
I think it’s way to advance I like the se version of I phone.

Plus how big it is your likely to drop it.

Not really. I like reliable tech that gets the job done, but I don’t feel the need to upgrade unless there’s a clear benefit or improvement that fits my needs.

No, I've always been fine with being a generation or two behind, be that game consoles, phone models, etc. Tech upkeep is much too expensive as it is, best to get them at a discount after they've been on the market for a while and all their bugs and kinks have been figured out.

I'm a tech geek, so I try to have the latest stuff. I'm not going to be stupid about it though. I've got an iPhone 16, and I'll stick with it for at least 2-3 years before I upgrade again. Whether it's phones or even other devices like laptops, there's not enough change happening year over year to upgrade every year.

You don't need to have the latest tech to be a participant in the tech revolution. I love the fact that smartphone companies have resolved to keep supporting phones they release with security and OS updates till after seven years from release. That means you can buy a good smartphone and use it for seven years without needing to upgrade.

Well, save you money if you do not upgrade every year, I say. Tech is great, but not always needed, the newest and not cheap

With the way prices have been rising, I think that I'm going to be retiring on what I currently have.

I do not. I can't afford to upgrade anything now and don't see myself being able to any time soon either.

The new AMD CPUs that are the top of the range are looking at around £800, and worse part, it's 6% faster than the last gen
