I use K9 Web protection as well. I like how it also blocks sites associated with malware, spyware, phishing, illegal, drugs, racism, and other topics I do not agree with and porn, and fetishes.
I tested K9 with Opera, Chrome, FireFox, IE, and it blocks all of the request to questionable sites which may contain content I do not agree with.
I notice it also does not let my Virtual machine running Ubuntu in VirtualBox access questionable domain names.
Re: Do you use censorship/parental control software on your
Considering I'm the youngest in my household at 18, parental controls aren't necessary, not to mention my parents would have to ask me how to use them...
However, when I have children I will definitely consider using parental controls. Mostly I'd just want to protect them from sites where they could come in contact with predators, like chat sites, etc. And until I think they're mature enough, if they're gonna have a facebook or whatever is going to be popular then, I think it would be a good idea to have to approve their friends to make sure they're just adding people they already know.

I think it is very necessary for parents to put parental controls on children's computers. Only a mouse click away might cause irreversible results.
Actually, I am planning to use it.

I don't, but my father bought a laptop for himself. It ended up being a kids laptop
One of the features on it was an automatically installed nanny program that would cut access to the internet at 11 pm, there was no way to shut it down unless it was a normal time that a kid should be up. XD
Took a while, but my parents were actually able to disable the thing.

I have a better idea; don't let a kid use the internet unsupervised. Actually, don't let a kid use the internet at all, it's a time sink and their lives will be better without it.
