The last few weeks, it's like no one signs up, when there is sometimes afew guests.. Are people afraid to join new forums?

I see that lots of places make a big deal, with like forum topics, etc., but most hosts provide like several humdred GB of storage..

Does not matter i find. But you basically do not need 40 members on the staff team when you only have 41 members ~razz~

I still think that is too much.

First of all, the admins should only be the ones that created the forum and or who had the first idea to create that community.

If you are getting soo much traffic and lots of users posting then you should add mods and not admins.

i think a ratio of like 1 for every 10 users for admin
So my forum would have 230+ admins going by that...

Seriously, you need 1-2 admins EVER, then a few moderators depending on size. If you have a small forum it is very discouraging to see like 6 members of staff, when I have 6 members of staff for my Cloverfield forum.

I would say they do for some people... I am not really bothered how many staff a forum has although i can understand why some people would be scared to join a forum where there nearly every other active member is staff as it would make you feel that you shouldn't be there and you won't fit in.

Try and stick to just yourself as an admin or maybe 2 aslong as you trust the other person if your site will involve alot of work like this one. The same goes for mods... don't have to many. Some sites like this one again needs alot of staff because of all the work we have to do but for a chat forum you only need a few moderators to keep things tidy.

Well I dont care how many staff there is. It just depends on how the staff acts. If they are all a bunch of control freaks then I wont stick around for long. If I joined a forum with 200 members and 199 of them are staff that wouldnt bother me if they were laid back and fun to talk to.

your staff team consists of 6 admins, which is very pointlessand that is probably why no one has registered for your forum

I think that they would be more discourage if there are more admins than mods on a forum.

Yes, I would keep it to a minimum and only hire new when you really need some, not just to make others slack a little.

well my fourm has 800+ members

we have 5 admins and like 4 mods

that baisscaly covers the forum and kleeps it safe

i dont think members like seeing to many staff, might make them feel like their forum is to strict or there chances of becoming staff is very low.

i think allot of people dont like allot of staff on a board, it seems to scare them -😉-

I wouldn't have 6 moderators on a forum with only, say, 10 members. It does make some members feel as though the mods are the "favorites" and that they were only chosen because they are friends of the admin.

I find that it does discourage because if more than 1 / 4 of the members are mods, the members feel like a mod will be reading their every post. They would not wish to join then so the dont...

It's kind of like forums, like I look through, and the user makes
normal posts, yet it says they have been banned.

I forund a forum awhile back, to discuss legal issues, or other governmental things, and there's a user from like 20 miles from me, who was banned... I read acouple of posts, and didn't see anything wrong..

That's what makes me wonder, like when Myspace & Facebook blocks people unfairly. Just like I see forums that block links, yet
when ya think about it, all the Internet consists of is links.

yer i agree some people do put too much staff on and i myself have been wary of joining forums because of this

I think it is distracting to have an excess of staff.

I currently have 9 staff members over at GameRout. Now it sounds like a lot but 4 are administrators (We created the site as a team, I've went on as head administrator but it was a team effort and I refuse to just drop them unless they resign or show 0 activity).

That leaves 5 regular staff members. 2 Global Moderators and 3 sectional Moderators. At the moment I am looking to drop one moderator because he is showing signs of immaturity.

My forums new and i'll probably only look at getting moderators when i cant keep on top of everything myself, I currently do no moderation work myself so theres no need for mods to do no work

I only do physical admin work like writing new features ect.
