Dont you hate it when you ask nicely for somebody to join your Forum, and they say yes... but never join?

It does at the mall on a slow weekday. 😛The Elite said:Infernhawk said:Dont you hate it when you ask nicely for somebody to join your Forum, and they say yes... but never join?
Don't you hate it when you walk by a store and the employees walk outside and ask you to come into their store to look at products? No, because it never happens.

I don't know what part of Australia you live in or where you shop, but this does happen in Australia. Alternatively, they hand out flyers to invite you into their store. They don't beg; they invite. The Elite said:Don't you hate it when you walk by a store and the employees walk outside and ask you to come into their store to look at products? They'll get me in if they have a good sale going or free samples to give out. 😛The Elite said:theezy said:It does at the mall on a slow weekday. 😛The Elite said:Infernhawk said:Dont you hate it when you ask nicely for somebody to join your Forum, and they say yes... but never join?

Well that's actually saddening to hear, as that will do nothing for their lack in sales and revenue. I'm beginning to wonder why businesses and online forums/communities don't follow the golden rule, "Think like a customer." Who gets attracted and influenced to purchase a product from someone begging you to enter their store, no one.

Great to see your speculation. Where did I say "local ones" or "failing"? I'm sure if you go to JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman, phone dealerships, Dominos, Pizza Hut, and even Hoyts, you will occasionally have people invite you by providing flyers and even talk to you. You may not have been invited, but I can assure you that it does happen more often than you think, unless you genuinely think the businesses/franchises that I have named are not successful enough. Having that personal touch in business and marketing is essential in assuring consumers and potential consumers that the business can associate and identify themselves with the people they are targeting. The Elite said:DavidL said:I don't know what part of Australia you live in or where you shop, but this does happen in Australia. I'm talking about successful businesses, not failing local ones. Also, I have not once been 'invited' in by an employee of the store. Which store has ever invited you in?
Actually quite common, maybe not for a full store but stands in airports or at the mall almost always do this. The Elite said:Don't you hate it when you walk by a store and the employees walk outside and ask you to come into their store to look at products? No, because it never happens.

You are speculating in assuming I am talking about "failing local ones". I bet we do live in different areas, but I do agree it doesn't happen daily and obviously not how they got popular. I have noticed out on 'shopping night' (Thursday), they have a person out there greeting people, making them feel welcome. The Elite said:I'm not speculating, it's just that I've never seen anyone get invited in by the stores you listed above. I also happen to visit these stores on a weekly/fortnightly basis. Maybe we live in different areas, but we can both agree that this does not happen every single day, and that's also not how they got popular.

Wait it does happen, and people do give them money.

That happens too... 😛
The fact is, in real world people actively confront other people asking them to do something or buy something and it does work on some and does not on others. Some people feel bad saying "No" while others can do it with ease.
Not really, obviously I'd prefer if they joined and became active, but most people have good intentions yet they are busy. When they tell you they will join, they probably fully intend to join, but then forget about it, don't get round to it, put it to the bottom of their to do list, etc. Try to only invite people who could genuinely benefit from your forum and if they still haven't joined, sometime after saying they would, a gentle reminder probably wouldn't do any harm.Infernhawk said:Dont you hate it when you ask nicely for somebody to join your Forum, and they say yes... but never join?
