There is a really interesting article on the solar system in 2012 that tells how the Mayans were referring to the beginning of a new cycle. This cycle lasts 26,000 years and involves the placement of the sun in relation to the Milky Way.

I don't think they were referring to end of time as much as the end of a specific time period.

They have been saying those things for years, 2000 wasnt the only time and thats why i dont believe it. They said something would happen on 06/06/06...but did it? No. So im guessing these guys made their timeline on stone? Did anyone think they stopped at that date because the run out of room on the stone? -razz-

The earth will not end.
People have said before that it would happen (such as 2000), yet it never did.
Basically every 25 years a new date is reached.

If this was true, the world would already have ended from all the "end of the world" dates.
