It is noticeable that lately there are many private messages of shared items. Health items, (false) news articles, religious items and some other items that Facebook users are now spreading via private messages instead of posting on their timeline. Maybe because they are afraid that Facebook will find that post dubious and may suspend their account? If that is so they why the need to spread such items via the chat facility of Facebook? I'm really puzzled with the mentality of social media users, most are out of logic.

I wouldn't know as I don't use Facebook, though it isn't really surprising.

I think it's the only way information gets to the reader. I guess it's to avoid spam, so people decide to send it privately (that's also spam xd).
I don't really know why so many people do that, that is, it is possible to create a group or a page for that element and ready, instead of disturbing others.

The whole point of fake news is to derail the public agenda. Right now, there's so much fake news surrounding Donald Trump, that you can't even tell which news articles is trustworthy. I see it every day right now from my own family, sharing clickbait articles to make a headline more exciting, and more interesting, than the actual journalism they think they're journaling. If that makes sense... The reality is, the more people share news, and that's a fake article, more people are likely to perceive that story as real, than what the article actually says. Every time you share something, the first thing people look at is the headline, and they rush to judgement on the headline. So, if your family member is sharing an article saying that Donald Trump is racist, semantic, and sexist, then he'll be perceived as such. They don't even need to click the article, just share and comment about how much they "hate" Trump. That's the reality right now.

I'm using Donald Trump as an example, because that's the hot topic on Facebook, Twitter, and instagram nowadays.

You mentioned Donald Trump, I also receive lots of fake news of political issues here. The other day, there was that item that says FBI had identified the perpetrators of the siege in Resorts World Manila. According to our police, there was only 1 gunman who caused the carnage that killed 35 people aside from himself. And that the gunman's motive was to rob the casino. Well, the FBI article that is being shared in social media says otherwise. That it was the handiwork of ISIS and the gunman was a suicide bomber (without a bomb, maybe). This issue is getting more confusing with the fake news that I don't know if fake or not. But why send it via private message, why not post it on their timeline?

Again, it's to derail the public agenda, they want people to believe one thing. So, if they want you to believe that Donald Trump is a sexist, they'll do whatever means necessary to get you to believe in it. Even if it is a private message. The point of it is to spread fear, and make a believer. You gotta understand, facebook is HUGE with 800 Million accounts. (Last I checked, anyway.) So, if one person is able to send you these propaganda stories, it can spread like a wildfire.

I don't really think that people are afraid of Facebook suspending their accounts. Why not? Well, just look how many sites that have thousands of followers are spreading fake news and click-baits. I would say that people are either worried about their privacy, or they just don't want other people to know just about everything about them. I myself haven't posted anything on my timeline for more than 2 years. Yet, I use it daily. I rarely browse the feed, I mostly use it to contact someone over messenger and that's about it.

"Fake news" is a scam. I spend most of my FakeBook time debating, and there are plenty of fake news stories. There's nothing that Facebook can truly do to prevent this issue. There are liberals that think Trump and Putin sleep together, and there are conservatives that think that pizzagate is a real thing, and no matter how hard Facebook tries, there's nothing that they can - or should do to stop this problem.

I don't think so that people are afraid of suspending their account because there is an infinite number of fake news are spreading in the Facebook and you are right people have to take benefit from this platform by connecting the readers but people are busy in spreading the fake news to influence others.
