Anyone play this yet?

My friend brought it over the other day and I loved it!

It looks epic! I'm getting it soon. Unfortunately there are too many epic games coming out right now.

I know, it's like the gaming company just had like huge brain waves of amazing ideas!

Just beat the game on Saturday, going back now to complete the quests I missed. Its definitely an improvement over FO3, if an unpolished one.

That's quick!

Well I did go through it quickly at just under 20 hours, however like I've said still completing quests, which I have around 20 more so thats probably another 20 hours lol.

Don't you have to re-do the whole game to go back and complete all the quests?

I saved right before the end 😉
But yeah there are multiple paths so I will start over some time in the future.

My friend just dropped this off today. So now I'm getting to play it a lot. Sucks though as I won't be getting much time to play since I'm leaving Wednesday for D.C.

Well its a great game, just play through it slowly since there's a lot off the beaten path you won't find if you don't search around a bit. 🙂

So far I am about 6 hours into it. It is alot like 3 but I have yet to discover the "wow" factor. One of my favorite parts of 3 was when you got stuck in the black/white world and had to find your way out. Gameplay like this is what I am looking forward to.

The VATS aiming system is groundbreaking. The cutscenes showing the bullets fly is amazing. Favorite RPG shooter of all time!

I really do wish they would be spending time on the next Oblivion instead though

If there was a next Oblivion I would gouge my eyes out. As for the next Elder Scrolls, then yes, they need to spend a lot of time on it. Hopefully Skyrim will not disappoint.

Anyway, FO: NV looks way too much like FO3, so I never got it. Don't get me wrong, I love FO3, but I don't want to play it all over again. Still on the fence about maybe picking it up cheap sometime down the line, though.

Writing doesn't suck thought because of MCA so it's worth it.

Also thank god skyrim is using a new engine, hopefully it'll be a good new engine.

Now with Fable 3 out I feel like I am wasting my time at this point with FO Vegas.

I have a few issues with Vegas. Some of the side missions are all jacked up. For example, I am on a side quest and am trying to figure out where to go. The arrow on the map is on the same spot on the map even if it is on a different floor. There were 5 floors and I was trying to figure out which one the arrow was on. Then, I needed lvl 75 lockpick to enter the room I needed to go in. I didnt know I needed to go in this room though and wasted an hour of my time looking for alternative options. Why give me a side quest with a lvl 75 lock pick requirement when I just started playing? Frustrating.

Um, if anything I'd be praising the game for that.

First of all, good roleplaying games shouldn't point you to EVERY SINGLE DAMN PLACE YOU NEED TO GO. I'm looking at you, Oblivion. Totally kills the immersion and exploration factor, and hinders the difficulty irreparably.

Secondly, good roleplaying games shouldn't let you do everything whenever you want to. You should run into enemies, dungeons, quests, etc. that are beyond your skill level. The absolute worst flaw that Oblivion had was that every damn thing leveled up with you, meaning you could beat the main quest and become master of every guild while you're still a rusty armor wearing, dagger wielding level 1 peon.

um...confusing is bad. With such a large world one would never finish if you didnt know where to go. A big part of RPGs is the content of the missions they send you on...the story they tell...not mindlessly wandering around not knowing if the answer is behind a locked door or not.

Being required to think != confusing

Another big part of RPGs is exploration. If you're told exactly where to go all the game becomes totally linear.

You should find out where to go based on what characters in-game tell you, hints that you find along the way, etc., not by some compass marker that acts as a magic guide.

I have no problem figuring things out on my own, not knowing where exactly where I need to go, and facing what obstacles and/or distractions get in my way on the journey there. Matter of fact, if wandering around aimlessly in an RPG isn't fun then there's either something wrong with the game or you're just missing one of the points of the genre entirely.
