Alright, its rather obvious that Firefox and Google Chrome is the top 2 most used browsers on the internet. So which one is more famous? Its Firefox right?

Internet Explorer is the most used Internet browser, then Firefox, Chrome, Opera and Safari. I have yet seen a site which displays otherwise (maybe Safari and Opera have interchanged, but it's minimal).

Note that W3Schools doesn't provide accurate counts due to it's tendency of users being web developers and not wanting to use IE.

Nah bro. Internet Explorer is easily the best browser on the net. Anything else is a downgrade. In fact, the best Internet Explorer is IE6. Microsoft has never made better (it's kinda like Infinity Ward with Call of Duty 4).

Firefox is definitely more famous than Chrome, but like everyone else has said IE is still the most widely used.

At the moment its got to be Firefox. Google Chrome still has quite some distance to cover.

I use Firefox on my Laptop but IE6 on my desktop. IE is of course the most popular. I honestly can't see a difference between IE 6 and FireFox, except tabs 😛

IE is most used browser (most rubbish too though) and he fact hat you can't remove it out of windows OS makes it even more popular.

Firefox ranks second.

You guys are still living in 2005. Firefox is by far the most used browser, unfortunately. Then it's Internet Explorer, with Chrome just behind.
Opera needs recognition.

I second that. Opera lags behind in popularity because a lot of people still think that it is a paid one.

Of what evidence can you supply to negate the trends provided here? Although I don't usually refer to Wikipedia, the trend that IE is in front of FF is fairly consistent. FF has surpassed IE in some countries but on a total, global scale, IE is still in front. No one here is living in 2005.

I agree that Opera needs to be known more. I am an Opera user just to clarify.

W3schools, Statcounter, Cnet. It's all over the web.
Not to mention a huge amount of the IE ''users'' are using it because they don't know an alternative exists. AND you have to first use IE to download another browser, so that's another + for IE.

Like I said in my first post, W3Schools is a terrible example. What general web user is going to go to W3Schools? W3Schools is for web developers and coders, not your average Internet user, so it's statistics are not accurate. StatCounter reports more IE users than FF. Likewise with W3Schools, Cnet is aimed at technology users so it's not considering the whole Internet. It's targeted at a specific niche. You've got to provide better examples.

I actually had the example that you use IE to download another browser on Windows OS, but that in itself answers the question on how many users. Regardless if you are eventually going to use another browser, you are still using IE. Like how you said, we are looking at "the most used browser" and if that's how IE can be used, then it should still be considered. And so what if there are plenty of IE users because they don't know or can't be bothered to download or read upon another. We are talking about "the most used browser" and likewise, if that's how IE is going to rank most used than it should not be excluded.

i think Firefox is best.. its faster, it have better Addon and plugin and now Personas Themes make it more unique from other browsers...
