Of course, many or most will argue Putin set up the whole situation with the invasion. Nonetheless, the threats to food security have to be taken seriously. Well, how can it be resolved?

War really shows that it pays to get along while sanctions punish the people and not the asinine world leaders like Biden, Putin, or Xi Jinping. It doesn't help that we have panic buyers when things like this go down. I don't like the idea of walking into a grocery store with nothing on the shelves or the idea of going days without eating.

A lot of countries already have food shortages. The poorest countries have food and medicine sent to them by many Christian groups from the US on a monthly basis.

And many other NGO groups at that.

In fact, you're right, these third-world countries have been dealing with this long before Putin's war crimes.

Russian propaganda is so out of date... It is like they are living back during the Cold War.

Russia is just setting itself up to be another Cuba in the end.

Depending on where you live and your lifestyle, the shortages might not affect you. Remember, the rest of the world is still producing things too. If you live in a country that doesn't produce enough food and buys most of it from Russia, then you should panic, otherwise, you might need to buy different brands of things or the prices might go up a little on certain products or things might be out of stock, but there will be alternatives.

A lot of creepy stuff is going on that doesn't directly involve Russia.

Agreed. I've noticed that not only with the pandemic, but with all of the political bad shit that's going on is really putting a strain on everything. Things have gotten much worse since the 2000's.

As a matter of fact... just look at the Indo Pacific, where China claims to own the South China Sea. Other countries said.. "Uh, no!" So, once they've established that... they started to trash the sea to prevent fishing. Literal garbage is being poured into that ocean.

It's not just politics. When a President causes gas inflation, then everything else follows suit.

And now diesel fuel is inflated and truckers are wondering if it's worth having that vocation any more. My dad was a trucker and the amount of money it takes to fill the tank is outrageous. When that eats into what you get paid for the load, it's not worth it to take some trips. I used to go online to find loads for him and we'd work out the distance, the pay, the weight...etc... Then there is the problem of if he's going to have to deadhead home.

Once these truckers stop giving up, just wait to see what trouble our country is in.

Ideally that shouldn't be on the truckers, but on those who employ them.

Sometimes the way the system works is that a trucker will sign onto a company but owns his own truck but he gets to use the company's resources to find the loads. That's how a couple of the jobs were when my dad last worked before he became a chaperone for oversized vehicles. It meant that he could go online and find loads he could take but he had to pay for his own fuel costs and upkeep of his vehicle.

Well, what are you supposed to do when a president raises taxes on companies?

My first year taxes was $1800 as a small [corporate] startup. My mother's company was an LLC, taxed... $5,000. For a small mom and pops retail company.

My tax was before Pandemic, my mother's LLC was during pandemic. But it doesn't help that the way LLC is structured. Especially if your partner bails. You're stuck with that tax, and not split, as the tax code tells you to do.

Usually, when a president is sworn in, and passes laws to hurt businesses, then don't be surprised this happens.

Usually, companies prepare during the holidays. Which coincides with a president being sworn in. When Trump was a month out from being sworn in, companies threw bonuses to people. Do you know why? Tax breaks. I got $600 bonus when Trump was announced as president. That bonus would've been bigger if I had been there longer.

These bonuses are NOT often sent out. But when it does, everyone smiles, but people don't know why it happens. Its not just because you had a profitable month, its because you had a new president who is offering Tax Breaks.

Not too familiar with US policy, so I'm not really in a position to comment on this. Coming from a country where this isn't an issue despite having really high taxes on everything (and the general population supporting increasing the corporate tax), it is quite hard to understand the US and its political climate.

But: is it definitely corporate taxes that account for why companies cannot pay truckers a bearable fee? Correlation does not imply causation.

President Biden has done nothing but cause inflation after inflation. He talked about promoting electric cars and going green and then canceled the Keystone XL, banned Russian oil , adopted stupid EPA and gas regulations, rejoined the stupid Paris Agreement, and is restricting oil which is causing gas prices to inflate like crazy. Now he wants to give Ukraine 33 Billion dollars that we don't have and is very adamant to push everyone's college loan debt off onto working people to pay off. That'll cause Federal Taxes to inflate and skyrocket so you can expect to see more federal taxes to be taken out of your pay check and tax returns.

And don't you just love how his administration won't accept responsibility for any damage they've caused to the country? It's someone else's fault...I think this month it's Putin's fault.

I can't stand him and if he even sends troops to Ukraine, it's going to be very very bad for everyone here in the US. When Biden was vice president during the Russian Invasion of Ukraine in 2014, he and Obama did nothing about it nor showed any signs of caring. At least Obama had enough common sense to stay out of it. Ukraine has only been an independent country from Russia for less than 20 years and if we get into it with Russia, you can be sure China is going to step in because they don't want our military operating over there, period.

I agree with everything you said.

The thing i was getting at is Keystone XI was enough for inflation. Gas currently affects EVERYTHING. Nevermind the gas pump for a second. The food shortage is affected by the pandemic, the lockdowns, etc. Because as I said before South China Sea/Indo Pacific disputes are causing a lot of issues here. Biden should've focused on the South China Sea, not ****ing Ukraine!

But he's compromised by both countries. Biden laptop is real so there's no hiding the fact that he has business dealing with Ukraine and China. Ukraine is more direct business profit, and China is more political profit.

Back to what I'm getting at, when gas inflation hits, EVERYTHING else falls into place and its not just truckers, ships, or any transport. Its more of inflation of demand. Inflation of prices, that's why products that is normally $× goes up. Let's say eggs is normally .50 cents, that shot up because of the literal inflation from delays, delivery, etc. All that production costs money, so say you ask for timber (wood), the distributor asks for $500, but is normally $200. [Hypothetical number. I'm just giving you an idea.]

Exactly. He's doing a great job nose diving the economy into the ground.

I think Biden needs to start undoing many of his stupid decisions and get the American people what we need and for low prices. Because it's going to be getting to a severe point where there's civil unrest and people wanting him to do something about it. The media is already calling him out on it.
