forum beefs

Quality over quantity is the recipe for a successful forum. Posting topics with good information that help members out is what makes new comers sign up and stay. Good unique content will also help you out on your SEO ranking.

All those counting games and spam are not doing any good to your visitors that are browsing the forums. I'm sure most people know how to count to 100. Its funny when I see sites bragging about having reached a milestone of 20,000 posts in 3 days just to find out most of the posts are in the "Games" forum.

Remember a forum runs on a database, that database should be a library of valuable information that will help new users with questions and provide them with hours of reading and learning time. People don't care if you have 500 posts or 2 million all they want is information on the topics they are searching for.

I think it's a horrible idea. It's a fabulous idea if you want to chase people away with an unstable environment.

No thanks, even though I am competing, basically, with another, much more popular forum. Hopefully the mods from that forum won't bother mine, but, I know of their grandiose immaturity, so I fear for the safety of my forums. :/

trolling - just invites more trolls, dont think its the best idea in the event you have a userbase of trolls..

Why would two forums want to do that?? If a regularmember of one of the forums did click to see how "great" the other forum was, they'd just see their admin doing the same thing on the other forum and probably just leave both forums and find somewhere else.

That sounds kinda stupid. I'd rather have a forum where everyone gets along. But I guess it's good for people that are desperate to have an active forum really fast. Whatever floats your boat.

ok its like a fight between 2 forums , start going to one forum and posting trash eg ill go to your site and start flooding how good landofthebanned.com is and start fight with members on your board. members will go over to fight back and forth between both sites and both forums will have more action.
I want a calm, friendly, easy-going community on my forum. These kinds of posts would not attract that community...

It will get you some more activity and maybe a few more members

But you're going to annoy the members of your forum who didn't sign up to fight with another forum
