Forum design

It's a great start. I feel as if it might be a bit bulky in areas, such as the upper right buttons and the navigation, but overall, it could definitely work. Just because it's different from the norm doesn't mean it shouldn't be used.

Childish is one very good way to look at it. The proportions are staggering. The font-choice isn't well-played. I'm not getting the color scheme either. And the worst part about it all is the lack of some originality that could have given is possible potential. I would agree with the person who gave you feedback. It is childish, to say the least.

Tysm for your feedback pandaa. Will fix this soon. 🙂

-- 07 Apr 2013, 03:37 --

Thank you for your feedback. May I know how experienced you are with forums? That would decide if I will change it or not 😛
What do you mean, the font-choice isn't well played?
Thanks for the feedback.

I've left you with some criticism. I realize I didn't leave any "padding", but that would be okay. 😛 You really just wanted to useful aspects? Not the mushy-kissy-stuff lol. I used font-choice as an umbrella term. But I was mainly referring to size and texture.

Overall, this looks like an attempt to capture standard designs, that just resulted in the loss of originality.

And my experience in "forums"? I suppose you meant web design? 😛 Or perhaps, web design relating to forums?

I would like to reflect upon what the person told, though not fully. The uncoded version has quite a few drawbacks, and the major one - the staggering proportions. Why would you need such a big category bar? It would only distract the visitors 🙁

Again, a good design is about having good button sizes. The new, Old and locked buttons need not be this big, and I assume that it is the same case with your viewforum.php too?

However, I must say that I am impressed with you color scheme as well as the header, I definitely think that you can reduce the size of the View Posts and Profile buttons placed laterally to the avatar bubble. They need not be this big, instead of which you can use that space wisely and include forum cash? Or link to PMs or something like that 😉

It doesn't fit the site, I don't think. Too "red" for it.

Thank you all for your feedbacks 🙂
I'm trying to fix everything that's been told here. 🙂
Ben, can you please tell me why it's too red for the theme? I appreciate constructive criticism 🙂

I like it. 😳 Maybe that's just me. I think that it's a nice and fun theme. 🙂

Just another question guys, should the background be very light grey (like the image I showed you) or white? I'm really stuck on the decision 🙂

@Jake, he is using constructive criticism, so I don't see any problem with it.
Thanks for the feedback tho, any advices?

You need to work on multiple areas. In nav bar, you have a search button, and in search box, you have default value set to 'search' ... I see this as duplication and would change either button text of value with in the box.

Avatar looks a bit large, and so the logo. Why Username showing in all caps? and date too. And yea, the items in nav bar are all using caps. I guess you are the one who loves shouting lol. That's what i have observed so far. Hope this helps.

The search value can be changed, yes.
The avatar size has been fixed, same with the logo. USERNAME is just an example of a last post, not something done on purpose or anything.

It's okay, I'm not very fond of it, color scheme is very different, a lot of white space and very un tidy... Breadcrumbs for example, where Board Index is, it's quite far away from the >, usually it's about 5px, the search icon is to large for the input, also, in the forums, the avatar section should be a fixed width & height, the same...

I would like to say. Your design is good for a first start. I would use the comments of members that have been given to you.

If you wish I could give you a hand with the design. I don't like the red but that is my opinion. I would look at colour schemes. It might help you with your design.

R44 to you...

To be blunt, the red theme does not sit well with Webmaster as a niche.

In my opinion the top part is too big for the bottom. It is top-heavy.
