Hi all,
As I'm sure you've noticed over the past little while, there has been a lot of change happening within FP. From former staff moving on to new staff coming in and some interesting times in-between. Fortunately we have our bearings a bit now and we're ready to talk about what's happening next for us as a team, for FP as a site, and for our community as a whole.
I don't think it's a stretch to suggest that everyone has noticed there has been some tension, some turmoil over this past little while between a few of us, and while the end goal is never to get into a situation like that again, we have taken the time to talk with everyone that we can and get back onto decent terms so that we can all, here on FP and beyond, work towards our objectives and make every community we're involved with or indirectly associated with a good place to be. When @Noble and myself were promoted to Administrators the last thing we wanted was to come in and maintain the status quo. For a long time now the status quo has not been working. FP has been doing alright, but we've all known it could be doing much, much better, and so when the time came, we sat down, drew up some plans for what we would like to see FP become, and had a nice, long chat with @Camaroni about our vision moving forward.
Part of what makes us so excited about what's to come is that we can see a future for FP where things are more workable, more flexible. We had ideas, we had radical changes we wanted to push, and we had visions for what FP could become. There were a few speed bumps along the way, no one can deny that, but with things on good footing, we have begun slowly working on what we're currently calling "FP 2.0" or the next generation of Forum Promotion. Don't let that frighten you, FP will still have the same foundation it took nearly two decades to build, why would we lose that much history? But what we are aiming for is to build upon that foundation and put FP in a position to modernize and to be a workable, flexible platform into the future.
What does this mean, exactly? Well ideally we're going to be reworking a lot of core FP features and services to make them better for everyone. We are working on a new system for website battles, for instance, to promote more inclusion and less bias in voting methods. We're working on a fresh new look for the forums, we're working on new policies and guidelines to open the channels of communication as much as possible, and yes, we're looking at revamping the forum list, working on some new content and condensing some of the old to a more streamlined, functional format. The objective is simple -- make FP modern, bring things into the current era and get people excited to talk about forums again. We want FP to be an open, transparent place, and sadly that's something we can say has certainly been lacking in recent years. We have fleshed out our staff ranks a fair bit recently, putting people in place that we feel gives us the strongest team FP has had in a long, long time. We've also been far more open and transparent with everyone on staff about what has been happening, what they want to see changed, and what our vision is moving forward. We all have ideas, we all share them, we all try them out and we all work together to build things better. Our team feels like a team, like a cohesive unit and one I am so, so proud to be a small part of. We hope that this new open ideology reverberates throughout the entire FP community and that we can continue to openly share with everyone and be as transparent as we possibly can be so everyone on FP enjoys their time and makes the most of FP's features and services while they're here!
How does all of this take shape? Well, it won't be an overnight thing, and in fact it likely will take a very long time to get from concept to completion. We have a development environment where we are working on ideas and testing things to improve or replace existing parts of FP and we're working on new features to bring to FP, as well. We won't just surprise you and launch a new site overnight one day, so we plan to slowly phase in each change to let everyone get used to them and to not overload everyone as they come to terms with a new platform for FP to build upon. So the goal is to focus on the development environment, get the changes perfected as much as possible and slowly phase them in, one at a time, here on the live Forum Promotion forums. We're excited to see where this takes us, and we can't wait to show you the first core changes coming shortly!
But that's not the only thing we're looking at -- we want to hear from you! We want your suggestions for what you want to see in an FP 2.0, what you expect going forward and ideas you'd like to share for us to consider. You are as much a part of this as we are, so let's get some ideas going
We hope you're as excited as we are to start this new journey into FP 2.0, a brand new evolution for Forum Promotion in a new era.
Thanks all, for being a part of this wonderful community, and for placing your trust in us, the FP team, to do what is best for the community we all enjoy. Let's do this

minor edit -- reworded parts of paragraphs as it could be misconstrued as insulting previous administrators. That is not our intent, at all, we love you all and thank you so much for laying the foundation that allows us to be here right now!
