Info Forum Promotion: What Comes Next?

They have mentioned that there has been issues in the past and they are working together to bring back where FP should be, and all the feedback is great but they are making changes and we need embrace them for a better FP 😀

Details about the coming features? Right now we're keeping that part for the next announcement, as some features are still in flux, the ones we can get nailed down will be announced soon 🙂

I know I haven't been here that long, but I haven't seen anything in the time I've been here of any conflicts. Everyone here has been so nice and receptive. I know for a fact that not all of these types of forums are that way. I found another one where I only stayed for a day or so due to its rude members and never went back. There is such a variety of helpful things here, and I look forward to seeing any improvements that come about.

We are in a whole new era of the web where we need to be more transparent and open about stuff on the site/forum too. This isn't 2009 anymore or anything. Being transparent and open about site changes, staff changes, etc should be posted about.

of course @Kale i wasn't suggesting anything different...

i was just stating that there is a-lot of negativity, when you guys are clearly working it out and trying to get FP to the future and work together and posting about this is fantastic, as well as the feedback provided.

but people need to stop being so negative and notice that you guys are working together to resolve all the problems here. Everyone needs to see there was issues but look we are doing this to change everything to make the community the place to be, instead of throwing negativity.

Sorry, if i'm speaking out of place but embrace the change and lets do this.

We're always going to get that anyway, no matter what the subject is about in terms of an open group of people. We will have those that agree or disagree. Major of those people dislike change, I have to admit even myself that I like the old ways better and never want to change but the old ways not going to work in 2030 Xd

That's exactly what we want. For everyone to come in, feel welcome and included and enjoy their time here. We also want to add functionality that makes sense for all involved so the site is useful now and into the future. We'll get there 🙂

I have seen many good changes already, Even though I only have one complaint that is not really a complaint in times of being wrong or sound that the index forum page is even longer.

Well, I will say the length has not changed, with the expansion of some areas we got rid of others along with removing items from the sidebar. 🙂

I look forward to seeing the upcoming changes to FP. Every website has it's up and down's, but FP is a site I have always enjoyed browsing. I like the idea of modernizing it, and I am curious what that entails. Thanks for all the hard work you guys put into the site. It shows!

Not a lot has happened on FP for a while which isn't a bad thing but people have been trying to come up with new ideas for a long time and nothing has materialised. There's only so much you can do on forums, especially a forum dedicated to advertising other forums.

Based on my recent thread I understand I'm now seen as an arsehole in the community and people don't like my opinion which is cool, I've been spending less and less time here as I don't think it benefits anyone. I read this thread though and I just thought that this is yet another initiative that'll fall flat because the truth of the matter is people need one thing from FP and that's advertising space, nothing else.

If you pick 10 forums at random from FPs directory, it's made up of the same member pool that is on FP. There's no new outsiders on people's communities. What has been put into practice isn't working. A reshuffle of forums, some names changed and the next roster of members being promoted to staff isn't going to give FP the big refresh it needs.

I suppose all I'm really saying is, FP has had this big '2.0' moment about 5 times already in the past 5 years. I'd think of some suggestions but I've already been made aware I'm not very welcome here so I won't bother.

I've seen a few attempts at this before in the archives, but what I can say is that this time round we have a really great team of people working on changes, and a lot of ideas that are actually in the pipeline rather than being discussed and never actioned. Yeah, you're absolutely right in that the scope of what we can offer is limited, but equally there's a lot of suggestions floated both past and presented, that never came to fruition. And we do want to change that.

I speak my own opinion here, but I wouldn't say that's true. I'm relatively new round here with no history of members, and when I came into the CT I did so with a fresh slate on everyone. From what I've seen at times you've just been a bit direct and blunt, which can be deemed as uncooperative or unhelpful to FP. But you're still around here, which shows you at the very least do actually care about the forum. There's no denying text sucks (and I love forums and always have) and is no substitute for calls, voice notes and pictures which we share on other platforms. I know at times different people can read messages in different ways. I don't have anything against you, and I mean that, but have I seen some things that might make you seem like a bit of an a**hole. I get there's history to that, but many people here today aren't part of that and want to move things forward. I'd love to see you stick around a bit more, and be able to speak your mind honestly without feeling shut down, but equally you need to phrase that politely. If you genuinely feel anyone is against you, or isn't prepared to give you that chance, come and speak with me and I'll relay to them how important it is they give you that chance. And I also mean that, I'm here for members, not to 'toe the line'.

To be fair, my OffTopicz.net has almost entirely different users than FP. Sure, it has a few users from FP, but that was only gained after advertising here. In fact, some of my users who are also on FP, came from my sites and not the other way around 😛

I don't know why you feel unwelcome here, it's certainly not the case.
