Forum went dead.

Security issues aside, Forumotion is one of the ugliest forum systems out there.

Let's look at the best forum software of 2011:
http://www.forum-software.org/vote-for- ... re-of-2011

This shows, there are definitely better alternative solutions to forumotion.

Infernhawk, I understand Forumotion is easy to you. But you're only 14, you'll learn fast, adapt to one of the better forum systems.

Any forums I come across, if it's Zetaboards or Forumotion, I immediately leave. I personally would not sign up on either forum system. And I'm sure there's many more people out there that shares the same perspective.

Age may come with experience, but not always. I'm 23, using phpBB, and I have a tech administrator. Why? Because I can't use a Cpanel to save my life, so it's nice to be able to have someone to call on for help. As for the security end of things with ZB, I haven't heard too many bad reviews lately in regards to Zetaboards, but as far as being the most hated, Forumotion still seems to be number 1 on any person's list.

Zetaboards is one of the most messy & disorganized forums I've ever tried, in addition, there's no flexibility for the Administrator/Owner.

I've not heard a single success story if you wanted to "leave" ZetaBoards, and take the database with you. The ZetaBoards "Administrators" won't give that up. And IMO, that's a huge down side.

What if you wanted to upgrade the forum to a better software? It would mean you'd have to start entirely from scratch again, users would lose their posts & work put into the original ZB forum.

Trust me, I've tried Zetaboards myself, but not even they are on my #1 list. I had loads of complaints about them back in the day. I agree about it being disorganized/messy, but a few other complaints I had:

Members were not getting emails notifications even if they had them turned on.
ACP is very poorly laid out.. had to do plenty of screwing around with it just to find out where things were.
Had a heck of a time with the "Forgot my Password" link. Wouldn't even work!

This list goes on. And I know about the being unable to restart from where you left off, because when I went back to advanced hosting, I had to start over again totally from scratch, although I didn't mind as that was a way to reinvent my ideas I guess you could say. All I can say though, is never again. I don't mind joining up with ZB forums, but from an owner's perspective, I'll never use that host again!

Yeah well, as part of my boycott of ZB, I wouldn't join any forums using it either, lol.

Alright guys! Stop with the Discussion here, take it to the Tech Section if you wish to continue, actually I will =/

This is why I hate making posts in this section, because all I get are suggestions to change hosts and get a TLD. SHUTUP.

And Aki-P I'm 13 not 14 😛

And I hate zetaboards too.

You're here asking for help, and as painful as the news may be, it's something to consider.

Do you have any favorite forums that you're a member of?
Check out all the forum software they use.
Check out the forum systems the biggest forums use:
http://www.thebiggestboards.com/

Forumotion isn't even listed as one of the options.

13/14, either one is great. Kids are great with learning, especially anything with technology. I'm confident that if you find Forumotion easy, you'll easily learn any other forum software just as fast.

If you're just going to say no, then fine.
You asked for help, I gave my 2 cents.

But I wonder why you even bother to ask for help, when you choose to ignore something so important like the choice of the forum software.

Guys try not to make this personal, when talking about this kind of stuff, everyone has their own opinions and they are entitled to them, you can only try and persuade them from taking your opinions.

I don't care if other forums haven't been successful with forumotion. I don't care if everyone on this freaking site hates the software. I don't care if its easily hackable (did you guys know you can restore your forums to an older date, like the day before it got hacked?). I did not come here looking to argue about forum softwares. I did not come here looking to change hosts. I should be able to choose my own host. The host should not prevent me from getting members. I just made this thread to look for advice to get my current forum going again. It was doing fine at first. I am using forumotion.com and I like it!

Yeah seriously guys, don't ruin his entire thread over forum software. I personally use vBulletin and have never used Forumotion or any of those. However, regarding dead and dying forums, just don't give up on it. Stay active and encourage others through things just as competitions (usually this is a big one on graphic-orientated forums) and other opportunities like that.

It will never be 'poppin!' with mad peeps if you just give up, but it could have the chance to be as big as this forum right here if you stick with it. Commitment and patience are your friends.

Thanks I will be sure to never give up.

My forum http://pokeballforums.forumotion.com/ just randomly went dead today. Before everyone was active and posting.

I think its because I removed the chatango chat. That thing was very popular but I was having too many problems with it. I don't want a chat on my forum that I randomly started having problems connecting too. I guess they loved the chatango chat. It made tons of people come on, and it didn't stop my users from posting. Now I removed it and it seems nobody is coming on my forum (except the people I do active/active with)
When you move major features, you need to work on bringing new quality content to your community. If a lot of users were using the chat feature - that means, you need to put up some new content - just because its dead for one day doesn't mean it'll stay dead forever. You built the foundation, now its time for you to kickstart the foundation, and the only way to do that is by putting up new content - and building some fresh links to your site. 😎

Never give up. My forum went dead I don't know why to this day but as said above, put new topics and a lot of hours into it and it is active again. I don't have 100's drop in a day but happy with what I do have.
