- I ordered a free domain.
- Then I cleared my cookies.
- Then I ordered another domain.
- Then I repeated this over and over again until I had requested 7 different domains.
If all 7 go through and get registered for free, I will be ordering more.
Same paypal account for each one so we will see what happens.

You are always able to transfer your domain out of 1and1 after 60 days, just like any other domain registrar. The only problem from my experience with 1and1 is that if you forget to cancel after the first year and refuse to pay the fair renewal fee of $8.99 than they will persue to collect the $8.99 through collections. The accusations of not being able to manage/control/transfer your domain name is false. You can always cancel at any time at http://cancel.1and1.com/ and keep your domain for the duration of the term. I wouldn't give out scam or warnings by just reading stories you see online, but rather from personal experiences, and from my experiences I'd just be sure to transfer the domain out the first year and cancel the billing if I no longer plan to stay with them.
You're not spending a penny with this promotion and at worst they'd rebill you for $8.99 if you do not cancel within the first year. $8.99 is cheaper than leading registrars such as GoDaddy, and the fact that the promotion offers you a FREE domain for one year, there is absolutely nothing to lose. Are you calling this a scam because people spent money on their domain name and hate the level of service provided? This promotion is free and free should always be taken advantage of.
