Well for everyone that has just come into the conversation, don't use FreeForums.org, there staff (admins) are un-friendly, tell lies, as per MhW, break privacy laws and basically offer phpBB3 software that has been demolished and built up again using a LEGO instructions manual.

Even though it is 'Free' to get a half decent forum you have to pay to get this 'advanced hosting' which should be re-named to advanced errors and then fix it all.

Staff get un-fair discounts as well, I was a Style Tech and kicked off because I 'could do the job'. Even though it would cost a lot more, download and buy a hosting deal from somewhere else and then you are in control of what goes and what doesn't.

Simple. Everyone so far in this topic has not said something favoring FF... It's rather funny.

IF you know what's good for you - stay well away from FreeForums.org . There are very dark areas in their organisation, including lying, deceit, breaking privacy laws and other related nonsense.

Take it from a former support team member.

Breaking privacy laws? Would they murder you and your entire family in your sleep if you elaborated?

I just told the Co-Founder/Co-Admin of my board about this and she is really curious now as well. We have been hoping to get donations to buy a domain but we may just do it sooner !

If we buy a domain does that get us off of freeforums ? How does that work ?
If we went to phpbb3.... do we have to start all over or is there a way to transfer everything over ?

If you buy thru Hostgator they will transfer your forum over for you. This is where I have had a positive experience with them. Hostgator is very cheap and they have a great support forum in my opinion.

This is def something to think about. Thank you.

Losing everything we have done so far is our main concern with moving. We have come a long way in just a little over a week and if we lose everything I really do think that I would cry.
Im so tech unfriendly its not even funny so there is NO chance of ME transferring everything over.

hilarious. I have always scoffed when seeing their donation chests.

But Freeforums.org a non profit organization, as their domain has the word "free" in it! Who wouldn't want to donate to them! :lol:
