Good Friday

We live in a world where by default you are born free to think freely, and then regulations we as humans have created puts an end to that. Controlist governments limit your creativity, and organized religions limit your moral standards and force "weird and wacky" rules in order for you to be in their exclusive "group", much like a cult really ๐Ÿ™‚

I may not understand why different religions impose the rules they do, but that doesn't mean I disrespect their members, it just means I choose not to part take in their activities :happy:

This is actually wrong Leo. There are still some countries where you are not allowed to think freely and in every other country you will get punished for thinking upon certain things. Controlist governments? Don't you mean every governments? I bet every one of them will and does sensor things that are said and stated. Religions, not all of them force you to do anything, such as buddhism, you arn't required to do anything. Just believe in a second life, which you should on your own.

You don't partake in their activities? Do you celibrate christmas, pancake day, easter, your birthday? All these are christian holidays, if you take time off of school, work ect ect then you are partaking in these "activities" you can't say you don't choose to when you quite clearly do take part in them.

@Kino
I haven't bashed anyone yet, and I really don't plan to, i'd like it if you stop implying I have please. All i've done is say that I don't understand the reasoning behind it, and thus I don't partake in it's activities. Do you really think if I go around talking about freedom of thinking for yourself that i'm going to attempt to persuade people away from thinking what they want? I may make a few points, but I realize it's ultimately up to the individual to make their own mind, that's the sole purpose of being human to begin with =.=

@Danielw879
When I spoke of conltrolist governments, I meant to imply every single one, yes. Every government sets controls and limits, that was kinda the point I meant to make with that ๐Ÿ˜› - As for your point about Buddhism, I think you need to study up mate, here's a list of their "rules" - http://www.buddhanet.net/e-learning/budethics.htm

I personally do not celebrate Christmas. I may receive gifts and give them, but if you ask any Christian, that's not the point of Christmas, it's to honor their god. The same applies to other holidays. I may do some of the "newer" activities, but I refrain from partaking in the religious part. As you said, some of it cannot be helped in our current world, as schools get off and stuff.

What do you mean talking about freedom? People aren't forced to believe in a religion or go to church for a matter of fact. People can believe in what they want to believe. It's a right your born with, so the United Nations say. I'm not implying anything mate, and if I am it's because people like you that I can't stand in real life. That's all.

If you know anything about me, I preach freedom. Freedom of speech, freedom to share information, freedom to make up your own mind. If it weren't for the hated people like me you wouldn't have the choice to pick which religion to believe, you'd be whatever your government tells you to be. I'm personally against all organized religion, but that doesn't mean that I don't want people to be able to have the right to choose, that's actually what i'm all about in the first place ๐Ÿ˜•

Wacky and weird holidays? You can be a bit more considerate for other FPers here.
Yet it is a wacky and weird holiday... think about it eh? You can't eat meat, though it's been a few hundred years since meat was considered a luxury (the reason why you give it up, by the way... lent after all). If you really want to get into detail, it's a DEAD holiday, considering every year the number of people celebrating it is declining.

More and more people, much like myself, are wondering why this even exists. You don't need to be off work to "remorse" the death of a "god" (or son of I suppose). I'm sure you could fit in a prayer or two on a lunch break :roll:

It's only the Catholics that can't eat meat. Not all Christians. :shrug:

Ah I see. ๐Ÿ˜‰ The link provided is for Buddhist Monks, not the religion. ๐Ÿ˜‰

When you take the gift, open a presant or give one you are infact partaking in it. It is part of the "holiday" if you like it or not, so you are infact partaking in a christian holiday. I am a christian and asking me I'd reply the point of christmas is to be with your family, know the true meaning of love and what Jessus did for us and why he did it, in the name of love for mankind... which we now honor this by exchanging gifts between loved ones. ๐Ÿ™‚

So you do partake in the religious part of the holidays too, you just don't know it.

It used to be fasting on Good Friday. ๐Ÿ™

Did the stations of the cross, adoration, and cooked at the fish fry.

@Danielw879
Really isn't a point debating with you about that to be honest, as I personally don't consider myself taking part in the activities (in the religious aspect). I suppose you've "won" the debate if it means anything to you.

Now i'm getting outta this topic before I get my backside in trouble >.>

I am a Christian. Used to go to Church alot but slowly stopped going and now I don't go at all but maybe once around Christmas Day.

I'd call every Friday Good Friday if we didn't have school. :lol:

I'm an Atheist, and I celebrate some Christian holidays. I'm a hypocrite. ๐Ÿ™
