When the Google Bot visits this site it's forced to follow the links. PageRank is made up of an average of elements on this site combined with the PageRank of the other site. Because the majority of links promoted here are PR 0 the overall average is not good.
If the links were set to rel="nofollow" i'd imagine the PR would be at least 2, perhaps even 4.
True but in the end PR isn't really that useful. SERP is what counts if you're trying to make a site that you really care about. Visitors > site value any day for me.
Ok, to the quote fror Murder he Wrote... the "dofollow" attribute has NOTHING to do with the PR of the site, the outgoing links of a website only help with the site that is being linked, so all of the outbound links are getting help from FP's PR. Though, what counts is a few factors.. One, the external incoming links to the website and the linking site's PR. If your looking to maximize SEO, than other factors like keywords and such come into play.
Now, to comment on Rotting's quote: PR does matter, PR is a forumal that determines how important a page is, and hence how high on search engines it will be listed. Yes, FP gets a lot of visitors and a lot of help, though without it being PR at all, which is why it is 0 and I recommend Fowler to get a Google account and have Webmaster Tools and have Google crawl the website. (which is also why it is a little low) Though, PR is important for every and any website if you wish to become famous.
