Google updates pagerank

FP's PR is still 0 most likely because all of the outbound links have rel="dofollow" attributes. When the Google Bot visits this site it's forced to follow the links. PageRank is made up of an average of elements on this site combined with the PageRank of the other site. Because the majority of links promoted here are PR 0 the overall average is not good.

If the links were set to rel="nofollow" i'd imagine the PR would be at least 2, perhaps even 4.

True but in the end PR isn't really that useful. SERP is what counts if you're trying to make a site that you really care about. Visitors > site value any day for me.

Ok, to the quote fror Murder he Wrote... the "dofollow" attribute has NOTHING to do with the PR of the site, the outgoing links of a website only help with the site that is being linked, so all of the outbound links are getting help from FP's PR. Though, what counts is a few factors.. One, the external incoming links to the website and the linking site's PR. If your looking to maximize SEO, than other factors like keywords and such come into play.

Now, to comment on Rotting's quote: PR does matter, PR is a forumal that determines how important a page is, and hence how high on search engines it will be listed. Yes, FP gets a lot of visitors and a lot of help, though without it being PR at all, which is why it is 0 and I recommend Fowler to get a Google account and have Webmaster Tools and have Google crawl the website. (which is also why it is a little low) Though, PR is important for every and any website if you wish to become famous.

Surely PR is, as the same suggests, is per PAGE not website/domain... for example on my site awesomestyles.com:

http://www.awesomestyles.com/default < PR 6
http://www.awesomestyles.com/phpbb3-styles < PR 4
http://www.awesomestyles.com/phpbb3-sty ... splay=&p=2 < PR 0
http://www.awesomestyles.com/style/prosilver < PR3
http://www.awesomestyles.com/style/fisubice2 < PR2
http://www.awesomestyles.com/style/darkoholic < PR1
http://www.awesomestyles.com/style/spring-flowers < PR0

etc etc. all the pages of my site have different pageranks which would suggest that if 'dofollow' (or any other factor) effected pagerank it would only effect *that* page. I.e. FPs homepage doesn't have many (heck, does it have any?) outgoing links and is still PR0 which would imply dofollow/nofollow doesn't have an effect on PR

Mine is N/A... It'll change soon hopefully, I recently put it in a lot of directories.

N/A

The forum has been up about a month.

Any ideas on how long it'll take google to get around to indexing it?

By next Christmas perhaps?

It varies... No one knows when the page rank updated happen. They usually just happen.

The PageRank can change at any time. Before Google 'Updated the PageRank' my site's PR was 4, then a few weeks later it dropped down to 2...this was a month or so before the Google Update.

What I think is that Google have updated the way they calculate PageRank as opposed to re-ranking everyone's site at the same time. ~neutral~

my forum has up to 2000 links to it. but i still have a 0 pagerank the URL is http://www.radio-hot-forum.net

PageRank is calculated on over 200 different factors including traffic, unique hits, linkbacks, do/nofollow attributes and much more.

For example, my site has 30,000+ inbound links and is PR2. However I had PR4 when I had about 40 backlinks, so it goes to show it's not always the more the merrier, perhaps you should focus on the quality of your links (eg: One-way links from sites with High PR).

Not that it really matters. PR is mostly a pride thing for the webmaster, significant if you're into domain marketing...useless if not.

grr... didnt make my site on time... waiting for the next pr update... -evil-

Nice, my site just start at oct 2008, when the time my site launch the PR renew already pass, so i just get it PR0 after few week. Then suddenly 2 or 3 month ago, at Jan 1, my main site from PR 0 up tp become PR3. i am also excited with this. -razz-
