Are you a member of a gym?

I just joined up at the Gym today. Its $40 a month so its affordable for me. They took me on a tour and its a really nice gym and brand new. I can go to any of the other gyms in the area too if I want. I think there is like 6 of them but they are all a longer drive so I probably wont go to them that much.

Here is they layout of the gym (pulled it off their website):

Its open 24 hours a day too which is good because I don't get off work until 10pm (starting next week again) so I can go after work.
I was going to put my daughter on the plan but its an extra $10 a month, they only have day-care service Monday-Friday (and 9am-1pm on Saturday). The (daycare) kids part of the gym is really cool though. Since I have her on the weekend it doesn't make sense to pay $10 a month for her to come with me only on Saturday in the morning. They did give me a 2 week guest pass for her so I can take her with me to see if she likes it. If she really does like it then I might spring for the extra membership, but for now its no.

Tomorrow I have a session with a personal trainer after work so he can show me how to use all the different types of equipment, take my body fat percentage, set some goals and all that stuff.
After that I suppose I can do it all on my own. 😛

My mom bought us a gym membership. Me and my girlfriend use it mainly for the pool. 😀

Yeah this one has a nice big pool. 😛
Its heated so I can swim even in December.

That's how the one we go to is. It's got tennis courts too.

Mine either.

My mom bought it hoping we would work out with her... Everyone usually just goes swimming. 🙂

Everyone I saw in the pool at my gym was doing laps. I think people just goofing around in there would be in the way.

I joined 24 Hour Fitness at beginning of June this year and I have been going there for 2 hours 5 days a week since then. The membership cost me $40 a month but the gym I go to doesn’t have all the features your gym has but it has what I need. I don’t have a personal trainer because it will cost me a extra $120 for 3 days for 1 hour a day which I think is a rip off and if you are determined to reach your goal you don’t need them.

I bet they gave me a free session with a personal trainer so I pay for one full time. Not gonna happen. I dont need a cheerleader. lol
I'll do the one free session though. 😛

Lucky, all they give me when sign up is pen.

Years ago we had one..I was 8...I was in the pool...almost drowned in a 3 and a half foot pool....

Mums got a membership card for the gym. I don't really need one though, I have a cross trainer, punch bag, weights and some benches in my garage, just work up from there.

I pay 250 pound a year for the gym I go to and go 5 days a week so it's quite worth it! 🙂

I used to go to the gym, but I don't really like the publicness of it. Idk why, I just don't like having people watching when i'm in the zone lol

I just met with the trainer for my free session. We sat down and did my body fat percentage and set some goals and he told me what type of stuff I should do at the gym, my eating habbits, how often I should work out, etc etc. Then we went and did a 30 minute workout and it was rough. I am out of shape. My legs and arms are still tingling.

After the work out we went back to his office and he tried to convince me to hire on a personal trainer which was not working because I dont want a trainer and I can't afford it. Those trainers are expensive! The cheapest option was like $200 a month for only one day a week with a trainer.. Not going to happen for me. He told me that I have a 100% chance of meeting my goals if I had a trainer and a 0% to 25% chance of meeting my goals on my own. He also said since I never been to a gym before I will probably just wander around the gym trying out different machines at random without getting any results. He said without anyone motivating me and hold me accountable, I will probably just give up and quit the gym after a while. He probably thought his de-motivational comments would make me think I NEED a trainer to get success BUT it had the opposite effect. It makes me want to get results on my own even more.

Anyway, after the workout session with the trainer I was pretty wiped out so I just walked around the gym to get a feel for the place.. Looks like its going to be fun. 🙂

I feel lucky I have a free gym 😀. It is run by donations and a church. Not to mention tournaments always pop up 😀.

The only "gym" I've used is the gymnasium at school. xD Sometimes, I would nearly faint when they actually made us exercise. D:

Personal trainers are a wast of money cause they will show you basic workouts. Unless you a professional athletes then it is not worth the money cause they are very expensive. If you are not sure on how to use certain equipment then just ask someone there. Most of the people in the gym, are very nice and helpful.
