Hacked?

No I haven't , but have had threats from a stupid person  😛

I know a Bond forum that was hacked once , but they got it back soon enough.

I haven't but I have a version of Joomla which will most likely get hacked at some point.

I have had a site/forum hacked once, although that was before I got my experience, not had any hacked since

Been threatened many times by people who can't type and spell properly as they just got out of nappies but never actually been hacked.

As long as you try and make a backup every so often you will be fine. 🙂

I am currently developing a site but I really hope it isn't hacked. I've installed as much security into the site as I can with my slightly limited knowledge of php though.

Worst I've had was a mass spamming. Never been hacked.
The people that spam only spam because they can't hack. If someone spams your forum and threatens to hack you ignore them as they probably would have a clue where to start. If they knew how to hack, they wouldn't waste their time spamming a site.

Yup, that and vBulletin is INVINCIBLE.

lol where'd you hear that? No forum script is invincible, a less popular one will be safer though since not as many people will look into it's bugs 😉

Nothing is invincible. If someone wants to get then, they will get it. Also while the script is pretty secure, the same could not always be said about the server that it is running on or the mod you add to it.

Think back to a few months ago when phpBB.com was down after being hacked. It was hacked by a exploit in phplist which is a separate bit of software hosted on the same server. It tool the site offline while it had nothing to do with the forum software.

I've been hacked for having created an unsecure mod for Burning Boards. I was so pissed at myself. It's taught me security is key.

I was staff on a hacked board...

Luckily all the person did was erase the skin.

😛

I was joking. But yes, vB does have a real team of real people working for it.

You're right. I should commence a server cleanout soon. 🙂 I only add mods by reputable people at vb.org and I very rarely add mods anyway.

No, not yet. I have done the best I can. But thankfully all I get is MASSIVE spam attacks
