Our old Chatting Time database was hacked twice last year. Once in January and once in March. The second time was what made me give up owning a forum for a while. We started up again in August with an all new database and it's been smooth sailing since! Also, it's not just big forums that get hacked... any forum of any size can get hacked and for various reasons. No legal actions were taken in any of last year's cases..
No, none of the forums I have ever owned have been hacked. Though, I might have received one or two threats when I first started running my own forums.
Once a few years ago. I was able to crack right into it and stop it long before any damage was done. A co-admin had his account compromised and all admin rights were taken away from the rest of us. I had to open the database to create a new super user and remove rights from the hacked admin.
I am surprised they didn't succeed. I can't count how many times I've heard Forumotion users saying, "My site got hacked last night!" Especially during the summer months, when low-life kids seem to have nothing better or constructive to do with their time than ruin other people's hard work! So I actually find that kind of weird that your site's attempts never succeeded. Or was this before Forumotion became so lax about security it wasn't even funny?
Yeah forumotion should wisen up on secuity everyday i there will be a
support topic My forum been hacked. and They sort of did Succeed but all they can do is Minor damage
A site I used to run for its owner (hosting) has been hacked about 3 times since its inception in 05, but it was only hacked once while i visited it, dunno about from when we parted ways though.

Well, without a Cpanel, the most a person can do when hacking a Forumotion hosted site is just minor damage, usually easily repairable. As I've also heard that when people have had their sites hacked on that host, usually (unless the hacker was stupid enough to delete the whole database!) a person can get their site back to normal within 2 days tops. And this is how all free hosts are. Usually without Cpanel, all you can do is minor damage, as you don't have enough tools completely to totally destroy a forum. The worst you can probably do is just delete the entire database and make it so the owner has to start all over again. That's probably the worst you can do.
