How much money have you spent on your forum so far?

I don't currently have a forum but I buy a domain and hosting when I do have one.

I have spent around $50. My site is hosted by a free host, i pay by posting in their forums and earning virtual money which is equivalent to $50 right now.

Bought a domain. Now looking at investing on advertising to boist activity and membership.

i feel i over spent.

$8/month hosting, prepaid 3 years in advance.
$180 i guess for Vbulletin forum
$40 Vbulletin blog add-on
$150ish for Vbseo
$200 for a new custom design, header and vbadvanced
$50 useless google ads.
$130 fantasy football application for the forum members.

Thats $750 so far in less than 1 month operation.

Domain names can easily go into their thousands, depends on many factors.

Slightly off-topic, although I once sold a domain I bought for £8 brand new for £100. Domain marketing is a great way of making some extra "pocket money" if you pick out good domains and buy them cheap, work on PageRank and lbacklink building then selling a few months down the line. Some people do it as a full time job and manage hundreds of domains at a time, but it's a very risky business.
