How to get traffic?

My experience with PostLoop
PostLoop can be useful, but it has some limitations and; you need to make sure you setup your rules on there a certain way or you'll get some bad seeds. I've had to revoke at least one person and warn a few who were blatantly ignoring the rules they are forced to read prior to subscribing.

How much is spent with PostLoop is 100% up to you though. If you have enough free time, then I would advise actually posting on other forums first. By posting on forums you are subscribed to on PostLoop you increased your post count without having to spend money. Most forums listed offer a max of 5 posts allowed per day, so if you're a fast poster you can rank those up pretty quick. If you can get 100-200 points on there, then go ahead and open up your forum there so people can come post through it.

However, keep in mind these are temporary members. They can convert the points into cash, so essentially they are getting paid to post on your forum. If you disable your forum for whatever reason it is very unlikely they will continue posting unless they are unaware you disabled the site.

What's nice though is you can control the rating of the members you get from 1-5 and in between. This means you can actually put 4.5 instead of just 4 or 5. Originally I started at a 3 which is where I got the crummy member from. Now I have it set to 4.5 (I believe? Or maybe 4) and so far it's been fine. I've gotten two people who obviously don't understand PostLoop and didn't properly subscribed, but it still works.

The best times to active your site are during the summer and winter breaks. A lot of the people on PostLoop are actually college students. Some of them are older and they'll pop up whenever; but we've primarily gotten people from PostLoop during school breaks.

You can also control how many times they can post a day on your forum where they'll get points. Most forums do 5 posts a day. This makes it so your points can last longer, but they still get points for posting. It's up to them if they post more. Sometimes they will if they're really interested in something.

However, revoking them can be a bit complicated. You can't revoke someone just because they are inactive or some other petty reason. They have to have legitimately broken your rules, so if you're the type who wants to get rid of people who aren't active... won't work. I'm not like that, but I've seen some admins that are. The one time I did revoke someone was because they broke about 50%+ of the rules I put in place when getting points from my forum.
WOOOOO LONG EXPLANATION OF POSTLOOP. Anyway.

Hit Up Your Peers
I know this tends to be a, "DUH," but it's also something I've notice people forget. Have you made sure to advertise to all of your friends who are also into what your forum is about? Considering it's essentially a gaming forum you'd definitely want to invite any of your gamer buddies. My forum is focused more on RPing so I made sure to invite my RPing buddies first.

Social Media
For social media, do NOT bother paying via Facebook unless you just want random likes. People are paid to just click like and that's all that is. There isn't much targeting at all. So if you want to look stupid popular? Go for it. If you want to actually be popular? Don't.

My boss said his best two social medias so far have been Twitter and LinkedIn. So, if you can utilize those you'll be pretty golden in the social media department.

If you happen to know anyone good with marketing you can also hit them up for tips and whatnot. You can also Google marketing tips.

SEO
There's not much I can add on it that hasn't been said in this topic. They're very good points! Do some research and find what best suits your needs 😀

Content
Content is muy importante and not much I can add about it that hasn't already been said. You can also research for forum topics or check out popular forums to see what sort of topics they used.

I hope that helps! 😀 If I think of anything else to add I will. The stuff I've read so far in this topic are super duper helpful already <3

I think social media in a good alternative choice for you in this case. You can share your most useful post on some famous group or fanpage

I think if ads are not working, then try some of the free promotion methods such as promoting on forums, blogs or social media. Also, build links and improve your SEO. Another good way of gaining members is offer something unique on your forum that other people want. Maybe, it is xbox games for posts or something like that.

Hi 🙂

I am running an Xbox One Forum, i have recently set up Google ads, and i have a decent domain name, i just can't seem to get any visitors, i have only selected 50p per day at the moment through google ads as i thought £15 a month would make a difference, does anyone have any tips? weather it's going to cost me or not, my forum is still abit dead. 🙁

An Xbox One forum, the best place to advertise it is on Xbox One itself in multiplayer games of others playing Xbox One games that you play. An Xbox One or any gaming community typically starts off by a group of people who play together and it creates a community of which you have already started up. Tell people about your site and get them to join it over a game. Convince people why they should join your forum.

Social networks and social bookmarking are an option. Try creating and submitting some articles about forums or communities.

You can increase the traffic by making link buildings as well as social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn etc, by following trends and festival. The most important and effective way to get more by using Google AdWords.

Both of them an equally important Back link as well as Content. But if want traffic then create more and quality back links, It means the sites must have decent PR, DA, PA. Even put the quality content in each page of the website.

Apart from PPC, you can also increase traffic using CPM. When finding the right CPM network, it would be best if you could connect to a DSP like Bluagile

New forums take a long time to get going you'll just have to promote promote and keep promoting. Good SEO and paid posting helps too.

Step #1: Find Influential People In Your Niche
This traffic tip is HUGE.

Unless you describe your target customers as “influential bloggers and journalists”, your target audience isn’t going to share your content.

And if they don’t share your content, you’re not going to increase traffic to your website.

There’s a simple reason for that:

Your target customers don’t run websites in your niche!
Step #2: Find Out What Your Influencers Care About
After you know exactly who the influencers in your space are, it’s time to figure out what they care about.

Because once you understand which topics push their buttons, you can create content that appeals to them.
Step #3: Create Content On That Topic
Once you have a topic that your influencers care about, it’s time roll up your sleeves and create content around that topic.
Step #4: Finally, Add Share Triggers (This Is the Secret Sauce)
In my experience, content largely succeeds or fails based on one factor:

Whether or not the content has Share Triggers.

What are Share Triggers?

They’re scientifically-backed psychological principles that — when embedded in your content — encourage people to share and link.
