My neighborhood is having mini brownouts, Subway system under the East River is flooded, parts of Battery Park are under water, several trees are down near me and neighborhoods north and Northwest of mine are without power and so far we're ok but I am worried about the additional 10 ft rise in tide from the full moon as well.

My forum is offline because the hosts servers are located in New Jersey.

Its been calm here, but then at some points wind from no where in speeds of over 25MPH. I was driving yesterday and could feel the wind pushing my car. We have got some rain from it, but nothing too serious.

I've seen the crane.. on the news, that is about 10 mi North of where I live.. I am less than a mile from the bay in South Brooklyn. The Mayor has said that the crane has been secured.

The MTA has only said that all 7 East River tunnels have taken on water, and that service will be suspended until further notice. The subway system will be down for at least 4-5 days, and that is being optimistic. The Mayor said that the subway system has never been through anything as catastrophic, and that when they were built 108 years ago, that events like this were not taken into account.

He said that while there were other hurricanes before, none of them have been this bad, and that he didn't know if it was because of Global Warming or what, but that the storms in recent years, have been worse than what they were at the time our transit system was built. All East River bridges are open, but the Mayor says that people should stay off the roads if they don't have to be on them.

My concern now is whether or not we'll have to cancel our travel plans at the end of the week. I am hoping that all will be clear or at least mostly clear by Friday.
