Do you have money to hire or know a volunteer lawyer who is willing to represent you for free?

The lawyer can send a legal notice to the drug websites, and hopefully the owners will comply with your lawyers orders to take down the fake post of you.

I know of a case where someone went to their own local police and reported someone that was impersonating them. The police took the report very seriously even though the impersonator was in a different country than the person they were impersonating.

The police took all the details and passed them to their own police headquarters. Police headquarters investigated the matter and identified the culprit. Next they contacted the impersonator's local police station and he got a visit from them. No one likes a visit from the police or for their local police to receive reports that they have committed a crime.

Anyway, the time between the initial report to the police and the police visit to the guilty party's home was over six months. So even if the person who is doing this to you thinks they are getting away with it, they might get a nasty surprise in a few months time.

Obviously the police don't give these crimes the same level of seriousness as they do crimes like murder and physical assault. However, they do take them seriously and are prepared to cooperate across national borders in order to put a stop to it.

Yea I know its not a serious crime so it might not be a top priority to the police. But I have the time and patience for it, impersonating someone is a very big deal and I want that bastard to pay for doing it to me. Thanks for your detailed explanation Fergal.

Thanks Kaiser, just to clarify I wasn't playing down the seriousness of it. I was actually making the point that although it is not at the same level as say murder, my experience is that online impersonation is actually something that the police do take very seriously.
