Impersonators

Have you ever had people pretend to be you on different forums?
As in, they sign up with your typical username or name, then pretend to be you? Perhaps acting like an idiot, saying stupid things, ect.

Nope, can't say i have ever had that happen, but it has happened to one of my friends.

Ive had it happen, Once in the past and once recently. Its one person who has some weird obsession with me and needs to get a life. Although most people do not believe it in the 1st place. Why would I make a separate account using a proxy? Seems a little suspicious to me. Any good admin would detect the fraudulent account without me even having to explain anything.

This person even registered at my forum yesterday and introduced them self as me. I think they did it just because they think it would make me mad, but in all honesty I found the patheticness of it all to be rather comical. Their own "friend" even snitched out who they really are and gave me evidence of their plans to do it. XD

Never happened to me but it happened to RockmanKenny, a member of my forum... where some dumbass registered on the forum as RocketmanKenny and even copied Kenny's profile information and avatar. After I spotted that, I deleted him and banned his IP.

It has never happened to me. The was something similar here the other day when someone signed up to another forum pretending to be MhW but spamming the forum.

Someone also did sign up here once pretending to be Jackal from FreeForums and asked us for our ACP password. :lol:

One of the Global Mods at another large promotion forum recently signed up to ForuMansion with the account name 'Murder he spammed' and started causing trouble. They also signed some "Stop Rok being a noob" petition using "murder he wrote".

Exactley, I never spammed forumansion. Do you have any proof that I signed up on forumansion and made an account called murder he spammed? Or do you just listen to false rumours?

If you're who i think you are; you've probably caused more trouble spamming other people's forums, and getting caught for it, more times than I can count .... max? 😉

I've never been impersonated, except in a chatbox and were trying to advertise a site, but their username was ComKid, I never use capitals. My only usernames are Comkid or comkid or comkidwizzer3 or Comkidwizzer3.

No, I was never impersonated in that way. However someone signed up from my school to my forum using ''Wrath of the BETTER Gods''. However they never validated their account, so after three or so days I removed them.

Edit: It was Murder he Spammer.

Nah, but it actually sounds fun to do it... only instead of doing it with a proxy use a combo of a header editor and a cracked open copy of Tor (or some other VPN-like service) and spoof your signup IP. If you did that with an admin's IP and spammed porn everywhere, the other admin would ban the IP and the admin would be locked out

Ah the trouble I could cause if I had a need to 🙂
