What are some important things that newbies should know about cPanel when setting up and maintaining their forums?

Honestly, it is to expensive now, there are plenty of other alternatives out there now for users to choose from.

I’d prefer cPanel due to being familiar, but the cost outweighs the benefits.

Many new users get confused on how to set up their backups, I have offsite backups however if not set up correctly in Cpanel it can eat away at your space rather quickly.

As to the point above mine, the cost is getting a little out of hand but it's user preference and what you can afford.

You should definitely pay attention to the SSL features attached to your cPanel. SSL is basically a requirement for everything now, so you'll want to have Let's Encrypt or another kind of SSL installed and ready to go.

As for what others have said on the cost, I agree. The pricing is outrageous now, but WHMCS, IPB, etc. have all made similar moves.

I think people should try and understand how the email stuff work as that's very important for setting up and using emails.
