iPhone 5

Re: iPhone 5 unveiled

Very underwhelming. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing new and it just about caught up with competition. Well done Apple. Thankfully I have an iPhone 4 so the upgrade will be fairly substantial to me but I feel sorry for those with an iPhone 4S.

That's what I thought, maybe there will be more features revealed at a later date. Either way, I'm going to get it, it's about time I upgraded my 3GS.

Re: iPhone 5 unveiled

It will still sell well. Anything with an Apple logo will sell well. The phone's actual features for most users isn't really the tipping point between buying and not buying - it's the brand which most people are buying.

Re: iPhone 5 unveiled

Apple....I have nothing to say about apple nothing that is nice however I do applaud them for finally making their screen bigger >.> some of the "new" stuff that they have released is kinda humorous.

If anyone watched the WDDC or w/e it's called the first part quite blatantly made fun of Android...which is rather dumb and immature but I guess I can't speak for Android they may do the same thing.

Re: iPhone 5 unveiled

Well, I have a 4s. FML - Anyways, atleast I can still use the apps of the new iOS since I have Siri. If only I would've waited a year.

But surely you being an Apple user would know. Apple releases a new product every 6 months or so. iPhone 5 was surely coming around after the new iPad.

But don't sweat it, I don't think the new update is worth waiting the year. And if you kept on waiting for the latest product, then you'd never get a phone.

iPhone 5; Thoughts?

What are your thoughts on the newly released iPhone 5? Here is mine:

"The iPhone 5 really hasn't changed much. I mean sure, the A6 processor looks nice, but can it put up a fight against the Motorola Razor with it's dual core processor? Can the retina display fight against the Galaxy S II and more so of the III? Siri is nothing new here folks, I mean look at the assistant on the Galaxy S III. The better camera with the low light detection is a nice feature, but other than that, it really hasn't changed from it's predecessor, the 4S. One cool addition is the option to do panoramic pictures.

Something that the iPhone is still lacking is a decent size screen. Looking at the Galaxy S III, I mean a 4.8 display, that's the second largest screen other than the Samsung Galaxy Note. The iPhone hasn't only changed the size of the screen high wise, but it is out of proportion. Way to go Apple, you made a screen that is taller than it is wide! The whole DPI, Apple is it beat when looking at the Galaxy S III. However, the Nokia Lumia still has the iPhone beat in the long run with the best DPI of any smartphone.

The battery, the battery has yet to change...well much. In the keynote, Apple said that it has improved some from the iPhone 4S. Which is a good thing because with the better processor, the better camera, the better Siri, all of those are going to need more power. So, Apple built a phone that needs more power to run it, but left the power source relativity the same. To me, that is a waste of time on their part. One thing that they need to do is to make a better battery. Because we all know how horrid the Androids handle batteries. So, leave it to Apple to stay with the same battery. Also, Apple still refused to have a removable battery unlike the Galaxy S III, which can be. So, if your battery is going bad, you're SOL because unless you have Apple Care +, you're up shi*s crick.

Lastly, the highly debated Lighting connector. Apple has failed yet again at impressing us. Leave it to Apple to make something that is going to force all iPhone users that want to use the old 30-pin connectors for any of their Apple products to get a $35 adapter. The entire "it doesn't matter which way you pug it in, it fits" deal is utter BS. Number one, who gives two shi*s if it can go in both ways? Really? Having a 50-50 shot at plugging in the old 30-pin connector is asking too much? If it doesn't go in the first time, well damn, look at that...FLIP IT OVER! Also, they swear up, down, left and right that the new lighting connector is faster...hence the name. This also is a fail. I mean if the connector was using USB 3.0, then yeah, it would be faster. But it isn't. The "newly designed" lightning connector still uses the USB 2.0 technology...so where is this "lightning" speed coming from? Oh yeah, so much faster than the old connector.

I mean Apple still ranks supreme in the mobile market, but if they don't hit the target market fast enough, they are going to miss out because the Samsung Galaxy S III is catching up quickly."

Re: iPhone 5; Thoughts?

I'm not saying that i'm an Apple Fanboy, but you seem to have some facts wrong.

Way to go Apple, you made a screen that is taller than it is wide!
All phones are taller than they are wide, including the Samsung Galaxy S III.
So, Apple built a phone that needs more power to run it, but left the power source relativity the same.
They've put a better battery in it because the phone is using more. If they kept the same battery in the phone it would be more like 6 hours, not 8 hours of battery life.
I mean sure, the A6 processor looks nice, but can it put up a fight against the Motorola Razor with it's dual core processor?
Considering the A6 processor is apparently 2x better than the A5, it's fair to say it will be good.
Siri is nothing new here folks, I mean look at the assistant on the Galaxy S III.
Well, considering Siri was made first, it's much newer than Samsung's S voice.
Also, Apple still refused to have a removable battery unlike the Galaxy S III, which can be.
There's no need to remove the battery if it's running fine. Maybe the Samsung S III has a removable battery because the battery is crap. I've had problems with Samsung's batteries for years, they just end up dying on you, never had a problem with any of the iPhones.
Number one, who gives two shi*s if it can go in both ways?
Well, I do. When ever i'm in bed and trying to plug my iPad in to charge, it's annoying if it won't go in the right way first attempt when you're trying to go to sleep.

Re: iPhone 5; Thoughts?

Such negativity. The A6 will do better then the Razor and SIII by far. I don't know what your talking about. Keep in mind, Retina display is 2 years old, so I don't think you should be comparing it to the S III, and I'm positive the 5 beats the SIII.

The screen size, not everyone wants to hold a tablet up to their face. The iPhone 4" screen is plenty and perfect. It's not out of proportion either, it uses a common 16:9 ratio.

The battery. The iPhone shouldn't have a removable battery. That's awful. And the AC+ claim you made was FALSE! The iPhone gets 1 year warranty, not to mention apple has the best customer service. You can extend the 1 year by purchasing apple care and have accidental damage by buying AC+. While I'm
Not happy with my phone battery, the iPhone 5 will be better. It's amazing.

The lightning connector. Apple had to do it, and they didn't take changing it lightly. It's a $30 connector, overpriced, but it's better then nothing.
I care 2 sh*ts if it can go in both ways!! That's cool! They had kids in mind. Not all kids know that if it doesn't go in to flip it over, and they will keep forcing it in. And I've not seen apple swear that it's faster! Nowhere. But it could be. Instead of transferring it to 30 pins it's only transferring it to 8 or 9 (I have yet to confirm which) pins, so less data to push pins too.

You have left out so much it's terrible.

And one more thing. I don't think Apple was found Guilty of infringing patents in court and has to pay a company 1 billion dollars, like SAMSUNG!

Its the quality, Android freezes often, has low quality apps in android store with less stability and less games/apps. I was considering getting galaxy s3 but the quality of the iphone is much greater. Its not because its a brand its because its has good quality.

Re: iPhone 5 unveiled

Email from Apple yesterday saying they've sold 5 million iPhone 5's they're going well.
