Is murder ever justified? Is killing 1,033,000 in six years right? Yes, 1,033,000 was the estimated amount of people killed, according to a poll from August 12-19 of 2007. The ORB said that "48% died from a gunshot wound, 20% from the impact of a car bomb, 9% from aerial bombardment, 6% as a result of an accident and 6% from another blast/ordnance." In April of 2007, an estimate of 62,570 civillians were killed due to the War on Terror. If the same number of people were killed every year, then about 1,721,667 soldiers have died (so far) and 104,283 civillians have died. However, we knowthat more people are killed each year in TWOT than the last year. But that isn't the only death total. According to a study, 18 War on Terror veterans commit suicide each day. If this is true and has been going on for 8 years, then 52,596 veterans have committed suicide because of the horrors they have seen on the battlefield.
NOTE: This may or may not express my opinions on war, this was made to start a debate. If I post different things, please realize I'm playing the devil's advocate.

It is. War cannot be stopped with us. Nor can killing or murdering.

It is cruel but we can't stop it. If a guy points a gun at your head and you have orders to eliminate that target, etc ...

You ain't going to drop your gun and die.

How is this a debate? War is not a tea party where you sit down and talk casually. War is war damnit. War is what you do if all else fails.

Where have these statistics come from? I highly doubt 1M soldiers died in a span of a few days. Death tolls weren't even that high during WWII

Yeah millions cannot die within a few days.... Unless A) Nuke and or a HUGE ASS massacre

That was when the estimate was from. 😛

I wanted to clarify something from my first post in this thread.

In war, it's kill or be killed. You have no other option then to kill the people who are trying to kill you. The only exception would be if you kill an innocent person. Such as a girl or guy who is hiding, and they are obviously just a civilian. If you kill them, it is unjustified murder.

Except that WWII didn't happen in 2007, and 1M in a few days/weeks is an unrealistic estimate even for WWII. Upper estimates including civilian deaths are at about 70 million.

KG, you do realize that I'm talking about TWOT? I do agree, however, that it was a terrible choice of image for opening the thread.

TWOT?

Edit: 1M people haven't died in TWOT yet. Who told you that, CNN?
Opinion Research Business. And I like how you assume that because I am a liberal, I get all my news from CNN, MSNBC, etc. And that's including the civilian deaths. 😛

Still, it's a very inflated estimeate compared to most others.

And yes, I like that as well.

What do you think FOX news is going to be the one to go for in order to get that type of info?

Estimates put deaths of Iraqi citizens in the hundred thousands, maybe millions, Afghan citizens are touching the hundred thousands... you need to wake up and face the facts. If you want to sit here and think that you can ignore this you're severely mistaken.

Murder can never be justified, not in non-war time non in war time. And also WAR can never be justified. War is agains justice itself.

What do you think war is?

Also, being in the army is voluntary. If you have a problem with it, don't join.

War is one of biggest crime for me. Its when one country people killing other country people for own interest.
And not in all countries army is voluntary. For ex. in My country you need to serve 1.5 year in army.

War can never be justified? I take it you have never studied US history? The American Revolution was certainly justified. As was preserving the Union in the Civil War.

I may be sadly mistaken, but most sources place the Iraqi death count at between 100,000 and 200,000. While I'd imagine this is compromised of civilians as well, keep in mind enemy forces are included as well. I'm sure during WWII nobody cared about how many Germans the UK and USA were killing.

Saying that war is never justified is an insult to our forefathers who have defended our freedom time and time again. Blindly starting wars for no reason is a crime, but what do you do after evil people start wars like this? Roll over and play dead? Nations must defend themselves, otherwise we would all probably have been killed like mere animals. Somebody has to stand up and defend freedom when it is compromised. Sometimes war can be avoided, but sometimes, unfortunately, it cannot. Memorial day wasn't very long ago and that should remind all of us of the price that many valiant people have paid for us. These people are not killers, they are protectors.
