Is sex becoming too exposed?

Now for the mirrored side...

Let's take a stroll through history, take a look at things that we have learned. Has "sex" always been something "sacred"? The simple answer is no, why not at all.

The Romans, for example, fully allowed prostitution. The also had glorious fights in the Colosseum, and even acted out myths (which included the story of the Minotaur, yes they actually had a female have sexual relations with a bull in full view of thousands of people).

What people have been the ones to say that "sex" is to be "feared" or such? I'm not attempting to offend anyone here, but the bible speaks of Eve learning the "truth" from the apple which gave us our sin, correct? If she had made such a mistake at the beginning of human life, why is it that we didn't develop as humans being against it? It wasn't until around the time that Jesus is said to have walked that we were "re-taught" that it was something to be "feared" - or rather "respected" as a deep value.

I don't see the harm in being who we are. We embrace the fact that we may have blue eyes, acne, or even be "fat" don't we? What's the difference between that, and something that is required by nature to occur being visible to the human eye?

I suppose my real question is, assuming that all human life was "restarted" - without any knowledge of how we lived before, would the first people wear clothes to hide their sexual parts, or simply for protection? 😉

I don't see sex being a bad thing, or harmful in anyway, shape, or form. However, as with anything it can be misused, in such cases as pedophiles do, which is of course, morally wrong. Speaking about sex the same as we speak about other things though, fine by me.

I've heard about that.... that was mess up...

Wow! That is amazing how much this stuff is getting seen by kids around the world.

Warning. PG-13 rated post, probably.

Do you say this because you are oblivious to it?

Sex is becoming way too public. It should've stopped way before the word sex, or even sexual references or innuendos got slipped into film and TV titles and taglines. Most magazines and other media doesn't help either - gossip on the latest nipple-slip or cameltoe (pathetic, right?) , and advertisements for libido pills in Television Guides.

Go backwards in time, a good 50 to 60 years. In the media, a male and female couldn't even be lying fully clothed on the same bed together. And then in the late 60s we got a taste of bad language and nudity in the media, and then it went further. By the mid 70s, there was no escaping it, and I think that in today's society, there needs to be an in between.

But one thing that I'm a bit of a fence-sitter on is advertising for STD awareness. It is necessary, but TV ads showing a montage of underpants, warning against herpes and unprotected sex at around 7:00 is wrong. In fact, it gets worse - I've even seen a government campaign for condoms airing on a Saturday afternoon, not long after lunchtime. Teenagers should be educated about safe sex at school, and young children shouldn't be familiar with words like sex, condom, herpes etc.

Sex is becoming too exposed. Sexual intercourse is an expression of love and healthy sexuality between two people, not a casual thing to be thrown around in daily conversation, and publicised everywhere. Adult humour is more frequent, and being understood by younger audiences, and children are being exposed to too much and growing up too quickly.

I realise that, of course, I can do nothing. It's most likely that neither can you, but hopefully it slows down. Being a virgin for most of your teenage years should be a normal thing, and these issues should become more private. That's my opinion.

-sighs-

Anymore, at this day and age, kids are being exposed to sexual content at a very young age. Not to mention the girls who are having sex like it was on a last supply.

I hate to make this topic biased..but it's more the girls. Girls are having sex like crazy..and it's the same girls over and over..and even getting pregnant.

I'm 14 and a lot of people in my year have done it and it isn't really a big thing. It goes along with your post, that's how we have been bought up to do.

I hear about it and shudder, we watched stuff about STI's the other day, and wonder what those kids could have contracted >.<

I tell ya what..those damn 30 minute extenze shows got me in trouble. I had been watching something on the USA Network..fell asleep watching it. My mom (this was last year >_>) came in, and those extenze shows were on. So my mom is like "what the f*** is this?" I wake up, completely unaware of the show. To this day, my mom is still looking at me like 'you moron' and won't believe I didn't intend to watch it.

Does it really matter if we see it at a young age, in my opinion no. If you make the right choices and do n't do it til you're ready, you'll be fine.

Liek woah, Dasher. MegaBallzy 5 month bump 😀

I see what Sam! is getting at.

In 1969, the Vietnam War was a huge topic in the music industry, and seeing lyrics weren't doing any good, it was time for someone to take action. John Lennon, of the beatles, and his wife Yoko Ono protested the war by laying NUDE in bed for days and days on end. Camera crews were shooting/airing it live and people weren't making snarky remarks and sex jokes. The saw the maturity of the matter and took it as a form of expression; Something today's culture lacks.

Today, people find a nude body a symbol of sex, and no longer a symbol of art and culture, and it kinda sickens me.. (This coming from a porno adict... Softcore is different from hardcore, people D< )

I blame the sex education. Just kid.

Well, parents now in days are letting their child to watch rated R movies or TV-14/TV-MA shows. I think that's how children are getting all these sex jokes from.

Or blame it on South Park.

Yes, Yes, blame everything on TV shows and Movies.

It's the parents responsibility to make sure kids don't see movies that are inappropriate for them, that's why they have ratings.

Sex is sex. Nothing sacred about it. Maybe in the old days. But now..you can pay for sex. Yep, nothing sacred 'bout that.

I don't think there should be an age limit on who can have sex. Now, I am not saying someone under 10 should have sex. I'm just saying, if a 13 year old wants to have sex, let them.

And let the 13 years old get pregnant and suffer the pain. And having the 13 years old drop school 'cause she has a child to take care of. I know it's there own fault but would a parent be like no, instead of a parent saying "sure no biggie"
