Hey guys. A few weeks ago I got pokemon crystalon Amazon. It works great and I looked online to find my answer and came up empty. I mean, it says Nintendo Game Boy TM like it's supposed to. What's your verdict?

It could just be the image, but it looks fake, and I don't remember the art on the cartridge looking like that either....plus the artwork seems 'blurry' to me, which is a sign of it being fake.

You know, now that I look at it closely, Suicune isn't supposed to be smushed like that is he?

Question: is the top part above the game art protruding inward or bubbling outward? Like, does your finger slide doen toward the surface the game is resting on or rise away from the surface

It's most likely a fake, especially if there's no safe battery in it, which from the photo, doesn't look like there is?

Here's other pics for comparison:

Notice how yours doesn't have the authentic nintendo stamp in the lower right corner? It's a fake.

I'm also leaning towards fake. It looks like a Gameboy casing. Crystal was made with a Gameboy Color casing.

The color of the case also had specks of other colors if I remember correctly. The question I asked above would be a sure fire test.

(Truthfully though, if it works fine, I say go with it.)

Edit: thanks for the picture above (on my phone), the OP is definitely a fake

I was afraid of this. Thanks guys. Just talked to my mom about replacing it eventually. If something were to happen to me, I think the next owner of the game will definitely know it's a fake, even if they don't catch on right away like I didn't. Also the save isn't as smooth as my other pokemon games, although the overall play is ok. Thanks though definitely going to see about replacing it. Don't ask how much we paid for it because a friend ordered it for us.

Even though we confirmed it's a fake, I can't afford to replace it at the moment so I'm going to play it till I can get a legitimate copy

If it works, it works. I'd be hesitant to purchase games like that offline. Often times, you can find it at a local shop. If you need to find it online, Gamestop has a great selection of retro games for decent prices. Worst case scenario is that you'll have to replace a battery. If Amazon is your go to, read reviews and only buy from trustworthy sellers.

Enjoy it though, catch me a Lugia please

Well, we have a video game store called Rock 30 that sells retro games. We're getting Pokémon Crystal there next payday. Playing the fake one for the time being

Finally got a legitimate copy of Pokémon Crystal. Which means I'll be destroying the fake game. Don't worry @Matthew I'll still try catch a Lugia for ya buddy. I'm staying up late tonight boy!
